Pros
Built has a lot of potential and fulfills a real need in the market. The problems are challenging and enjoyable to solve. The tech stack is fairly modern. You can expect to grow and obtain new skills that will serve you well in your career. Comp is decent, though you can probably get more competitive offers elsewhere.
Cons
The company culture is toxic and exhausting. It doesn’t take long for the glitz & glamour to fade, and when it does, you realize that behind the trendy startup gimmick is a group of people that are overworked and under compensated for their struggles. Deadlines are unrealistic and demanding. Individuals get shifted amongst teams and aren’t given a sufficient on-ramp to get up to speed. The turnover for engineers is quite high and those that do stick around work long hours and get burnt out in hopes that their equity stake might just one day payout. It’s a quintessential startup vibe where everyone’s “Unlimited PTO” barely gets used because of the underlying pressure from upper management. I do believe the CEO is a good person, but the management choices are questionable and bleeding the talent pool.
