Pros

Growth has been steady over the past 15 years, which leads to increased opportunities within the organization. This growth has also led to exciting advancements in our services and technology, which also leads to new opportunities. TMC is constantly creating new positions and expanding into new regions. TMC is a culture focused company which stimulates employee development and alignment with our customers. TMC is leading the industry in several areas and will continue to do so as the industry evolves.

Cons

Balancing internal politics while maintaining focus on the strategy is a challenge for any growing company.

Thanks for the review. The growth over the last 15 years has been rewarding. It’s been fun to watch the business and our employees grow. I think you have a good handle on what our future is about. I agree with your comment that we need to stay focused on our culture. We all hear Peter Drucker quoted a lot and for good reason. His perspective that culture always trumps strategy is something we really try to promote. It isn’t easy and we aren’t perfect but we are committed to continually improving. Carrier Manager - On-Site

Pros

Great Office Space, top 10 in Chicago. Freedom to manage your time and workload while working on-site at the customer. Got a great opportunity to learn the customer's Supply Chain and Logistics operations. New Project Management team is being formed that I think highly of, I think long-term they may be able to hold on to the customer and turn this team around.

Cons

Young Management team. The company has a casual, young "new" culture. However, the new senior management that was brought in to learn from their great many years of experience, presents itself with a larger, corporate approach to handling customers and issues. TMC's cultural values are nothing more than words painted on the office walls. The platform itself is outdated - has caused issues with customers. Other 3PLs have created new platforms that are customizable for a customers' need. The team can definitely be cliquey - especially if you're working off-site and don't blend in with their culture and lifestyle - definitely can feel out of place. Yearly reviews and goals do not incorporate in your daily life at work, but you're graded on them at years' end. Management team admitted to me that they didn't know what I did. Could not help coach me and make me a better employee for that. Definitely a red flag when you're trying to lean on others for advice. When it comes to discipline, there is no "coaching" or any "action plans" in place to help improve your skills - instead, terminating seems to be the way to go. Working on-site at customer has it's challenges, can be stressful being the "odd duck", definitely didn't fit in with their culture. No HR team, only corporate in Minnesota. Be careful when working on-site at customer, it's nothing but a political game, watch what you say to who you say it to. Do not speak to them about anything before speaking with your TMC Management team. Stuff gets back to your management team faster than you think.
