Pros

Work/Life balance 1-2 company social outings per year Start-up feel Quarterly updates from President regarding company's progress

Cons

Don't be fooled, the HR department urges current employees to write positive Glassdoor reviews to protect the company's image. All in all the TMS is middle of the pack compared to other solutions in the industry. The IT department is steered by CHR and with that being said lacks flexibility in terms of customer requests to fit their immediate needs. TMC oversells their solution by stating they employee industry experts (CSPCs, Six Sigma, Lean certified) when in reality it's just a place for people with no supply chain education or background to work a 9-5 job. They would rather spend money on a "cool" office space with inspirational acronyms printed all over the walls rather than on IT enhancements that push the company forward and provide value to their customers. Little to no formal training. The company offers monthly "bootcamps" taught by current employees who have learned solely what has been passed down to them through their experience at the company. Employees are siloed into the account they are assigned to on Day 1 (tasks & responsibilities vary largely from account to account) which creates very high turnover across all accounts due to stress and compatibility with team members.

Pros

Some really great people who genuinely want to see this organization prosper. The office space is pretty cool too, convenient location in the West Loop.

Cons

TMC markets itself as an innovator and creator of robust SCM technology, but the reality is the "solution" is basically a glorified load tendering tool. The upsold managed solution is simply a means to cover up all the shortcomings in the "SaaS" model. The other tools - optimization engine, BI suite, mobile app, etc. - are mediocre at best. Aesthetics over execution sums it up. Leadership would rather blow the budget on marketing gimics instead of investing in system upgrades. Sad. *News flash: your customers are catching on.* Not to mention, the vast majority of TMC employees are not even industry trained, nor experienced. Nothing wrong with being a theatre or english major, but don't market your people as CSCPs, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.

Leadership Ruining the Company

Pros

Good benefits. Work life balance is solid. A lot of the middle managers seem to be very good at their jobs and well liked by their teams.

Cons

Decisions made at the top are baffling. CHR is the biggest 3pl in the world, and rather than hold their people close and weather a bad transportation market they have made it clear through repeated moves of archaic RTO policies and now freezing of merit bonuses that individual contribution does not matter: CHR will put market losses on the employees, while positive market gains accumulate at the top. Priorities are backwards.
