Pros

There is supposedly potential for equity upside

Cons

- Long hours. - Awful pay and culture. - Unwilling to invest anything into training employees. I understand the philosophy of working at a lean startup organization requires individuals to step up, but what about the most rudimentary tools... LIKE A WORKING LAPTOP? - Highly unethical employment practices that take advantage of future employees

The fact that you weren't even offered a working laptop is embarrassing to hear - but I can assure you that we would have rectified this had you raised the issue. Nevertheless, if you could contact us at devin(at)cscgeneration.com with more details so we can ensure this doesn't happen again, we will donate $500 to the charity of your choice. Thank you for the feedback.

Pros

Everywhere you go there will be good people who are stuck in a bad job and don’t know any better. There were some good people here. Also, if you need a job to feed your family or need visa sponsorship to stay in the country, then this is a good last resort option.

Cons

This is the worst place I have ever worked and it’s not close because they were inferior from every angle. CEO would send self-centered, rambling, poorly-punctuated, company-wide emails that should of stayed in the diary. Compensation is well below market (20-30%). Culture was austere and cold. Environment and Facilities felt like East Berlin. Growth did not occur during my time (from what I gathered things were not going as planned). Leadership was full of copycats with no creativity or vision. Perks were non-existent. Oh, and they also asked all salaried employees to work weekends in retail stores during the holidays, obviously for no additional compensation. This company claims to be a start up, but offers no equity therefore there is no upside.

Based on your review, it appears that you were not an employee of CSC Generation, but of DirectBuy (one of our investments). That being said, we are sorry that you did not enjoy your short time at DirectBuy.

Pros

Like at any company, I got to work with some nice people. I'm really reaching here, but...casual dress code. Opportunity to work from home when you need it (depending on your position, but they were pretty flexible about your hours as long as you were getting your job done). You get to work closely with leadership. This job wasn't a fit for me, but I did enjoy being challenged every day. Don't take this job if you can't handle hard work.

Cons

This was genuinely the most miserable and confusing job I have ever had. Low pay and long hours, but they expect you to be excited about the position for the "career growth potential" despite the fact that they seem to have a problem holding on to employees. No work life balance, and they seem to think this is cool/a good thing. Lame downtown office with no parking or perks. I don't know what else to say - but the Austin job market is filled with so many better opportunities. I wouldn't consider this company unless you're desperate. Reader, keep in mind that this review is based on my experience a year ago. So it's possible they have improved in some ways.
