Pros

The Hospital is very interested in patient satisfaction

Cons

I received very poor training and the employees were less than friendly or helpful. They have a no overtime rule period. As a new employee, I was expected to learn and complete work in the same amount of time as employees that have been there over 10 years. I think Children's is a good organization and I was proud to be a part of the Hospital but embarrassed to have worked in the Finance department.. I would not recommend working in Finance. Also, health insurance very poor.

Pros

Somewhat flexible in their scheduling, can make up missed hours on occasion without getting in trouble. Benefits are good and there are a variety of them, but the deductibles are still high even when you don't choose the high deductible health plan. Tuition reimbursement is available. They don't charge you a copay to have your children seen at any of their facilities, including the ER.

Cons

They will not negotiate pay no matter how much experience you have for the position. Negative overtones in the work environment, almost hostile. All HR policies are based on nurse staffing requirements and needs rather than considering that not all employees are nurses and non-essential departments outside of nursing shouldn't be held to those requirements. Tuition reimbursement is minimal compared to the actual cost of college courses per year. Yearly raises are negligible and do not keep up with the cost of living in this city.

Pros

This organization has a wonderful medical staff. The medical personnel, in fact all the employees, care deeply about children and making them healthy and happy. It is very unfortunate that senior management does not care about the non medical personnel at all. They give themselves huge salariies and don't even pay the administrative personnel fair wages, let alone superior ones. Working conditions are terrible for most admins and many haven't had raises in years because no one has bothered to find out what fair salaries are in the open market. Personnel stay because they care for the children, but 90 percent of them are underpaid and working what amounts to two jobs in a 40 hour week so that senior management can take home huge bonuses and raises every year.
