This is the most politically volatile place I have ever worked. There is a veneer of Christian politeness, but the hostility and distrust simmering under the surface make it impossible to get anything done. If the COO is offended, the whole team can expect to be upended. I went through more reorganizations than I can count in the time I was there. (A reorg every 2 months or so--I honestly don't remember how many.) Everyone shows up 15 minutes late (at the earliest) to every meeting, if they bother to show up at all. To be fair, most meetings could have been an email. But no one answers email, so you have to meet. If you need someone to sign off on something or do anything, it could take a month or more. Teams develop problems with specific individuals who will never loose their jobs no matter how little they work or how cruel they are to others. You don't even have to show up; you can still draw a paycheck. Managers who attempt to deal with problematic employees are stonewalled by HR and may themselves receive disciplinary action for trying to address the problem. Teams don't talk to each other. There is no documentation of anything. No one knows their own processes. No one knows how their processes affect other teams. I cannot think of a single thing that isn't a problem. It is baffling to me that so many smart people could get everything wrong.
