First and foremost, the current position opening in Columbus, Ohio is nothing but lies. The job is out in the community, and you will be sharing the office with the director who is clearly passive-aggressive. The company is not even credentialed yet, so you might not even have a job until they are which is debatable. The pay listed is either been raised by $20/hour or a complete lie. You will be travelling to all Medicaid clients without being reimbursed for gas or the time it takes to drive either way. They make a big deal out of the bonuses, but they seem to be very unreachable.
You are expected to market yourself to get more clients which really should be done by the company which they say will be done once they are credentialed. As other therapists mentioned, training is complicated and really should be 2 weeks to learn what you need to know. You are given 4 weeks at $400 to get things going, and after that it's whatever you make seeing clients. Since they're not credentialed yet, they're trying to use the developmentally disabled clients as guinea pigs. I was told to see a client that any therapist would know is not going to benefit from therapy due to their severe brain damage. But unfortunately, there are no therapists there yet, so no one really knows what to do. There was clearly not enough planning done when this company decided to open an office in Columbus, Ohio. Whether it was the person chosen to run it or the management, it's a mess. Make sure you have another job as a back-up if you take this one, because 4 weeks goes by quickly when they are only pooling people from PALS. Finally, the director will most likely be in and out of town, so you're pretty much on your own. So unless you find clients on your own (which she days she has to make a presentation to but she's never in town or too busy), good luck getting 10 developmentally disabled clients who have the IQ and ability to even comprehend and benefit from counseling.
