Pros

They have excellent qualification, quality system and culture. They support employees and help them reach their potential. They choose their people carefully and good performance is rewarded.

Cons

They should be more flexible and able to respond to the needs of international markets quicker.

Pros

Good union so benefits and wages seem good. Subsidised canteen (if you put up with the mice in there!) Good location - easy to get away from ... People - there are some genuine, caring and professional people who work there.

Cons

Where to start?! No job security - 'restructures' every August so the Sword of Damocles hangs over your head. Bureaucratic - teams that don't speak to each other (as they have no reason to), cliquey, processes.between departments never seem to fit and company wide decisions impact some departments more so than others. In basic terms, too many bureaucratic departments trying to do different things which results in little understanding as to what each bit of the business does. Management - A joke. An little clique of mates (from LearnDirect mostly) mutually backslapping each other as the teams below them get it in the neck. The CEO was quoted in my first week as being approachable and always talking with other teams. I only ever saw him once - that was during a fire drill! Under prepared departments - I never had the tools or software to truly do my job properly. Job prospects - Always bleak. The same people sit in the same seats for years.
