Clozd isn't what it used to be

Pros

- Co-workers were amazing and made it fun to go to work. - In the early days, Clozd was an amazing company with great potential. - The product is superior to the competition, making it easier to sell.

Cons

Unfortunately, leadership's egos have gotten in their way and the employees are paying the price. From the sales side, the issues appear to stem from the ineptitude of one specific sales leader. Unfortunately, this leader lacks the experience needed to scale a company and this stems from not having experience selling enterprise deals or leading an enterprise team. For example, leadership installed a daily point system, coupled with a performance management system, that has ruined the culture and created an environment of fear. This is more suited for SMB sales or SDRs and doesn't work for enterprise sales. In addition, this leader hasn't solved for an extremely low number of AEs hitting quota. Instead, the response is to just increase the pressure. This leader has a major problem with nepotism (a couple of reps get anything they want while others feel like they are penalized for not being "in the group"). If you don't agree with how this leader runs a business you'll immediately have a target on your back. There are also layoffs. Clozd's approach to hitting their goals has been to throw bodies at the number, which is why many AEs don't stand a chance at hitting quota. They let the entire SDR team go last year and then laid off a good portion of the team at the beginning of the year. The worst part of that was some of the talent that was let go, including the only sales leader who knew what he was doing (everyone knew he pretty much did his job and this sales leader's job at the same time). The good talent is almost gone and leadership lacks the ability/awareness to be introspective enough to see that they are the root of the problems.

Pros

Great lower level people (and SOME Management). Cool service with great insights.

Cons

Here’s a startup that laughs at all the “Utah tech drama” and pretends like it’s not staring at them in the mirror. It’s honestly a little crazy to watch how they treat current and former employees (think controlling EX-boyfriend who doesn’t believe you can be happy with ANYONE but them). It’s such a shame, because some of their people are AMAZING, but they wallow under the rule of people who forgot that high school was 15-25 years ago. For a company that preaches “transparent feedback”, they certainly don’t take it well when their own employees provide it. One of the founders actually has a decent head on his shoulders but is overpowered, misled (and over-spoken) by the other who is brash, dishonest, and lacks emotional maturity. If you ever go to Clozd, pray that you never leave because you will be DEAD to them and go out of their way to sabotage you and themselves in the process.

Pros

- Meaningful satisfying work helping others to succeed. - My experience has been that Leadership is very open to employee feedback and from what I have seen isn't retaliatory even if feedback is ultimately not acted upon. - Fun culture, the company has a work hard play hard feel to it and they do their best to encourage work life balance. Not uptight about dress code or anything, people are usually their authentic selves in office. - Lots of little perks like free lunches or smoothies or cake pops etc. Good snacks. Breakfast cereal bar. Helps a lot on days when life is busy. - Leadership is transparent about the health of the company and the growth trajectory - Managers in the client success department advocate for employees and there is a sincere effort to help you define your career path in a growing company.

Cons

- Clozd has a fully in-office policy when they used to be Hybrid. - Still a start-up in many ways so depending on your role, career growth may be slower than some would prefer largely due to the smaller size of the org.
