Pros

It's a job. And a good first one for IT. I got the job and have learned a lot of things in performing the position.

Cons

Poor pay, poor benefits, no raises, no rewards, no recognition. This company is filled with incompetent people, and when/if a promotion becomes available, you better believe there will be some lifers way ahead of you.

Pros

Good training benefits. Medical is ok. Good vision coverage. Not much else to say good.

Cons

Expected you to work on your dime. They would tell you that all work was to be done on company time, but then not give you the time to do all of your paperwork. They don't care about their field techs anymore. Remote management. I never met my manager or supervisor, so I never knew them other than just a voice on the other end of a telephone. Not all expenses are covered for field techs for driving your own vehicle, though they just bought vans for some people after cutting work force. No career advancement possible. Once you become a field tech, you are stuck there. They won't look to move you to an on-site location.

Pros

Communication, responsiveness to escalations, fair wages for the type of work, not being micro managed, flexible hours revolving around client availability - less thumb-twiddling. Flexibility with PTO. Creative license. Recognition for quality work and ideas. Some projects offer OT.

Cons

Some are power-trippy, loud, obnoxious, disrespectful, lazy, etc. Others would waste time, energy, resources, making you feel small rather than help out a team member with useful information. Does not feel like a 'team sport' at times. Too many conference calls about nothing that directly concerns the boots on the ground. More like serving a sentence than living the dream. Pigeonholed. Work is not consistent. There's either too much or not enough. Some projects do not offer OT.
