Field Technician

Pros

Working as a field technician provided for a flexible work schedule and if the company had a lot of client contracts you could practically write your own paycheck. I worked 50 to 60 hours a week when I wanted to which was great. Management was easy going, helpful and supportive plus you had the support of other field technicians by phone if and when needed.

Cons

As long as there were a lot of client contracts available the work is out there for you to take. The down side is when the clients stop renewing their contracts and the work dries up quickly. That happened in my area and the work dried up quickly.

Pros

- Not much micromanagement, you're encouraged to be your own boss in the field and make decisions that best represent the company and yourself. - Management and supervisors that look out for your best interest. - Possible career advancement opportunities. - PTO/Time Off was plentiful. - A good company to start your IT career with. - A great atmosphere for networking and friend making. - Dedicated team members that will help you with questions when issues arise that you aren't sure about.

Cons

- Not much, was pretty much thrown into some situations with little to no experience but usually used those times to become an expert in whatever it may be. - Insurance benefits could be better.

Decent enough, but not long term

Pros

Supportive management (usually), PTO policies was nice, and consistent scheduling. Managers were always supportive if you wanted to move hours around to accommodate. I worked full time and went to school full time working here.

Cons

After promoting so far you kinda plateau, and contract level manager turn over was horrendous. We averaged a new manager every 10-12 months. Pay was decent, and then they restructured and it wasn't. Anybody who wasn't management took a pay cut while new Executives got large hiring bonus's. 1 bonus would've paid our entire contracts wage loss for a year.
