Good Company, Lots of Growing Pains

Pros

The people are great, very good culture. It's a great product to represent. They offer free lunch, a stocked kitchen, and it's a rapidly growing company. Overall, it's a fun place to work.

Cons

Decisions are made without considering the impact on other departments. Finance has way too much influence to the detriment of sales and customer service. Promotions are not always based on merit, with a heavy emphasis on whether or not you're liked by management.

Pros

The company atmosphere is great, meaningful friendships are easy to come by. Provided lunches/drinks/snacks were a nice touch and company outings were often lavish. Got to touch a lot of different software technologies so this job makes for a great resume builder.

Cons

Felt too much like the ownership decided to employ cheap tactics to distract younger employees with shiny objects like the free lunches and such to justify extreme measures of micromanagement. Compensation that did NOT meet up with industry averages. Responsibilities increased like promotions but salary bumps were not correlated properly to the increased responsibilities (unless someone quit and made mention of poor salary). Not to mention all the FREE overtime. I am sorry but my extra 3 hours of work for a "bug fest" event (fancy shiny language for forced overtime) is worth a heck of a lot more than a couple slices of pizza and a beer. It's offensive. Add into that the forced overtime on the weekends is more evidence of the micromanagement that shows crystal clear how little development team members are actually being trusted. No sense of a healthy development process because it's cluttered with poor form and no separation of responsibility. Management tries to run a full dev team like a 3 man dev team.

ConnectWise Response

The ConnectWise leadership team regrets when a colleague/company relationship doesn't meet expectations. We are as focused on our "internal" customers as much as we our focused on our external customers. We consider an end of employment to be unfortunate, but believe our colleagues agree that ConnectWise is a fantastic place to work. Our colleagues ranked us in the 2012 Tampa Bay Times Top 75 Places to Work in Tampa Bay: http://www.tampabay.com/specials/2012/reports/best-places-to-work-in-Tampa-Bay/
