Pros

Flexible time off, multiple holiday time off, and the benefits were fairly good. And the amazing and understanding colleagues that directly worked with.

Cons

Don't do it - don't apply here. The company itself, even during some of its most trying times, has gone significantly downhill. The C-Suite is only worried about making money. This was conveyed time and time again in their so-called Town Halls; and even when the "lower-level" colleagues worked so very hard to admit new students and to keep retention of their students in order to show profits all the CEO could say was "Keep It Up." There was little to no celebrations for the profits for the colleagues that actually did the work. But instead, they got to watch the CEO and his buddies repeat the same thing on the Town Halls. And instead of celebrating and rewarding, colleagues were required to return to the office, not one, not two, but three days a week. Most, had already had remote work prior to the COVID outbreak, maybe only coming in once a day. And to my understanding they have added an additional fourth day. From my experience, there was very little collaborating happening, but lots of chit chat in large open spaces OR colleagues on the same call, sitting only two desks away from each other. Good Luck getting a conference room when you need one for student privacy reasons. The company stopped recognizing colleagues that had reached milestones in their employment - for example 5 years, 10 years, etc. OH wait, they did start to list them on this site that colleagues rarely used. In one of their recent round of layoffs, it was quite evident looking at those that were given notice that they were making too much and the company did not want to pay the upcoming merit increase to them. Adtalem will tell you that that the positions were not necessary in the upcoming restructure. When Student Advisors were removed from Chamberlain campuses, students went without help and were forced to sit on the phone waiting for an advisor. Complaints were made by students, due to the lack of assistance or the lengthy wait times but nope, those advisors were not put back on campuses. I can't imagine walking into a campus but still have to call a call center to get the help I need.

We are very sorry to hear this about your experience at Adtalem Global Education. We care deeply for our current and former employees and strive for our colleagues to have the best experience here. We believe that building a strong workplace culture will increase our capacity to collaborate and better serve our students and employer partners. To achieve this, we are making enhancements that are designed to build community among our colleagues and elevate the experience at many of our locations, including a recently opened office in Columbia, Maryland and an upcoming move of our headquarters to Willis Tower in Chicago. While we are expanding in-office days, we are committed to providing flexibility to our colleagues and continuing to work remotely on Fridays. We are sorry to hear about your thoughts on employee recognition, we will share this feedback internally. We have also recently launched a new employee recognition tool to highlight the great work our colleagues do everyday. On a final note, thank you for your feedback regarding our student support on campus. Our advisors work hard to provide students with the support they need, but we are always open to improvement and will share this with our team internally.

Adtalem - Know Your Purpose

Pros

Flexibility - Good Benefits - Nice People

Cons

They have grown too fast and service to the shareholder is far more important than providing quality education. The company preaches diversity, opportunity and community but it has cut budgets and headcount for the last few years. The TEACH values no longer apply at the top and long time leaders don't know how to react to the new norm. Those at home office forget that they are there because of the institutions and not the other way around. There is a self preservation mindset amongst managers that is a result of the many changes.

You can have the most amazing PTO & Benefits and still not care

Pros

The PTO, health/retirement benefits, childcare, legal and other benefits are the absolute best. The relationships you make with your colleagues are invaluable and having the freedom to do your job and solve problems is empowering.

Cons

The executive and C-level leadership are constantly pushing the agenda of colleague "Care". In every role I've been in, there is always a lack of concrete, transparent goals to be met. If large initiatives come into play, we are only given how the initiative will benefit the organization but we are not told how the specifics of the initiative will actually affect our job, our day to day, our livelihood. I used to think this organization cared about me because of the massively attractive benefits package, but at the end of the day, they are about being at the top of an industry at any cost necessary within legal boundaries. Expect to be treated with care by only those who are working in the trenches with you because all upper leadership are focused on, is revenue generation and beating the competition even if that means losing those employees they claim to value.
