First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to contribute feedback for Creative Solutions for Hope. We are thankful for the work that you have been doing with our clients for the last 1-2 years of your employment with us. It is great that you highlighted one of the best benefits of this position! Our Behavioral Therapist role can be highly flexible and is perfect for employees who are seeking a great position working with our kids but can only work in the nights and afternoons for instance or need to work around their school schedules. As a BT you will be having in-home sessions which means there is some driving involved, but we will always keep you within a 25 miles radius of where you are located unless you are comfortable driving outside of that radius or request to drive outside the radius to access additional clients and hours. We also do compensate for some driving as we compensate for gas/milage when traveling in-between clients. Again, thank you for your feedback.

Pros

Making a positive impact: As a behavioral therapist, you have the opportunity to make a significant difference in people's lives. You can help individuals overcome behavioral challenges, improve their quality of life, and achieve personal growth. Helping others: Working as a behavioral therapist allows you to directly assist individuals who may be struggling with various mental health conditions or behavioral issues. It can be rewarding to witness their progress and see them develop healthier coping mechanisms and behaviors. Personal satisfaction: Seeing your clients make progress and witnessing their increased happiness and well-being can provide a deep sense of personal satisfaction and fulfillment in your work. Continuous learning: Behavioral therapy is a dynamic field that constantly evolves with new research and techniques. Working as a behavioral therapist provides opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development, ensuring that your skills and knowledge stay up to date. Flexibility and variety: Depending on your specific role and setting, working as a behavioral therapist can offer flexibility in terms of scheduling and work environments. You may have the option to work in different settings such as schools, clinics, or private practice, and work with individuals across various age groups.

Cons

Emotionally demanding: Working as a behavioral therapist can be emotionally challenging. You may encounter individuals facing significant emotional distress, and it can be difficult to witness their struggles and hear about their traumatic experiences. Self-care and maintaining emotional well-being are crucial in this role. High level of responsibility: Behavioral therapists often carry a high level of responsibility for their clients' progress and well-being. The success of the therapy may rely on your expertise and ability to develop effective treatment plans. This can create pressure and stress, particularly when faced with complex cases. Dealing with resistance and setbacks: Some clients may be resistant to therapy or face setbacks along the way. It can be frustrating and disheartening when clients struggle to make progress or when treatment plans do not yield the expected results. Patience and perseverance are important qualities in overcoming these challenges. Administrative tasks: Depending on your work setting, there may be administrative tasks involved, such as documentation, reporting, and record-keeping. These tasks can be time-consuming and take away from direct client interaction. Limited resources and support: In certain healthcare or educational settings, behavioral therapists may face limited resources, such as funding or access to specialized training. Additionally, depending on the setting, you may have limited support from colleagues or supervisors, which can impact your ability to provide optimal care.

Thank you for your very accurate and positive depiction of CSH. Providing ABA Therapy is a rewarding experience like no other. Being able to see your clients grow is one of the best benefits of being a BT. While working with our clients is rewarding it is hard work. We are committed to providing families with great service so they can live an independent life.

Pros

The families were amazing to work with

Cons

I use to love working for CSH however, when they decided to “help” (take over) the san diego region it all went downhill. They constantly kept criticizing our team and kept finding things “we can improve” (they were being pitty). The san diego region was honestly like a family. Most supervisors would work 10-12 hour days to improve the region and help the families. They kept trying to implement pips, deny time off request even if it was for surgical reasons (super unethical), they kept saying they will send families back to insurance with limited availability (single moms who do their best to balance everything while providing for their family). They kept making unprofessional comments to our minority “did you really just pronounce this word wrong” (repeated it 3 times, on what she said wrong even though english is her second language). Or would make comments like “what was written on the email was such a telenovela”. There’s no such thing as work life balance since they would constantly add work. If you ask for a raise they would always deny it but keep giving you more work. It was such a stressful experience the last few months being constantly criticized and watched. Instead of supporting and helping they made half of the supervisors quit in less than 1 month. They lack communication, changing things without informing the SD supervisors even though they don’t know the clients. They purposely wouldnt cc the main bcba on the case. But since the SD region was so united we would keep everyone on the loop. We are trained to teach our kiddos to generalize and be flexible however, they lack this ability and wanted everything their way. It broke my heart seeing the main SD supervisors be disrespected and under appreciated when they BUILD SD. It’s really not worth working here. Save yourself the drama and the unprofessionalism. One last thing, this company sees everyone as replaceable so all your hard work would not be worth it.

We would like to express our gratitude for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experience at Creative Solutions for Hope (CSH) after your resignation. We sincerely appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts with us. At CSH, we strive to create a work environment where employees can develop strong professional relationships, making it feel like a second home. However, we regret that during the months leading up to your departure, you did not communicate your concerns about the situation. Our management staff holds weekly meetings, and it is our hope that employees take advantage of these opportunities to voice their concerns. This allows us to provide appropriate feedback and support. We believe in giving every employee a voice, but remaining silent and waiting for a different outcome, instead of actively participating in finding a solution, unfortunately means you did not fully engage in improving your experience in your role with us. You are correct in stating that external assistance was brought in, and this was due to consistent complaints from funding sources regarding late report submissions from our SD region and concerns about staff requiring additional training in ethical utilization of client hours. Moreover, the support was provided to your regional director and supervisors to manage the growth occurring in the region since upper management was alerted to increased complaints coming from our internal CSH departments regarding failure to follow company policy and protocol, which put CSH at risk of liability. It is disheartening to learn that this perspective was not evident to you. Our goal is to ensure that all CSH regions operate in accordance with the guidelines of our work and the requirements of funding sources. Each region is part of the same company and should maintain a certain level of consistency. This is simply the business response to the accusations raised in your review. As you are aware, our BCBA's and CM's have the flexibility to create their own schedules, allowing for a balanced work-life dynamic. Our BCBA's and CM's take pride in their strong work ethic, providing assistance to both the families we serve and the hardworking staff. The clinical strength of the SD team has always been acknowledged and appreciated. Regarding your concerns about the term "minority," we wish that if you found it offensive, you would have reached out to your team's director or the human resources department for immediate and effective support in addressing the issue. There are a few additional points we would like to emphasize. First, CSH does not simply turn away families due to limited availability. We have a clinical obligation to our clients and adhere to the recommended services. Consistent access to these services is vital for our clients' success. The ultimate decision regarding service availability lies with the direct supervisors, who are familiar with the individual situations. It is not determined by the external assistance provided, as they may lack the specific knowledge required. Secondly, we would like to acknowledge that there were indeed corrective actions being taken for our staff behind the scenes. Unfortunately, the lack of communication led to a lack of unity within the team, contrary to your statement about "keeping everyone in the loop." This breakdown in communication ultimately resulted in the loss of three clinicians in the region. Finally, CSH does not deny any time off requests for confirmed medical reasons. Our human resource team is fully knowledgeable about employee laws and ensures that we proceed in accordance with those laws. As an aspiring BCBA mush like yourself you should understand that we firmly believe that individuals dedicating their careers to this field are invaluable and irreplaceable by companies of our size. In fact, we have invested significant time, training, and support in many case managers, even assisting them in transitioning from one region to another, to demonstrate their value. It is disheartening when they choose to leave despite our efforts. Once again, we apologize that your experience did not align with the values that CSH upholds. We genuinely wish you the best in your future endeavors within this field of work.
