Pros

I've been part of Umo business unit in Cubic for 1.5 years that is run as a SaaS product. Umo is run differently than rest of Cubic and I love working here. I learnt a lot of things here and think is a good place to build your career. I think pros are- Tech stack Good base salary, WLB, all remote Smart coworkers and supportive management Every other Friday Off and special Umo days off every quarter

Cons

No equity or options High turnover in last 2 years due to good job market outside

Pros

- You can hide and shirk responsibility easily. - Corporate culture/matrix org structure is strong, for those who prefer that style of organization. - Opportunities to suggest innovation and get involved in special interest groups. - Work/life balance is fine if you have the courage to stand up for yourself.

Cons

Cubic does not offer competitive salary for the Austin area. From an engineering perspective all the below will vary by program. - Lack of product mindset and product ownership skills on the leadership team result in unclear priorities and an expectation for engineering to implement features that are not yet defined. - Disdain for iterative product development techniques under Agile; the organization prefers to use augmented + outsourced headcount to scale instead. There is an attempt at using SAFe, an unsafe scaled agile framework. - Maintain a legacy system that has never been cleaned up in its 20+ year hot-potato history across many development teams and many different sets of leadership teams. - Tech debt & massive tech stack results in difficulty becoming efficient at anything.
