Pros

The software is truly fantastic. The company knows e-medication management. Good pay. Make certain to make sure all comp is written.

Cons

Constant turnover at all levels of the company. Unattainable goals. Not stretch goals but quotas and goals that have little or no alignment to market opportunity, production processes and general reality. Is DrFirst for you? Depends on where you are in your career. Yes, if... You really need a job and just need a landing spot as you continue to look. You are in the last few years of your healthcare career and want to make some cash before you retire Enjoy being publicly berated and humiliated by the CEO You are man. You are ok with quotas and goals you will never meet.

Pros

I worked at DrFirst for half a decade so I saw lots of good things and met lots of good people. DrFirst offered me a very flexible schedule and good PTO. WFH may be possible for many positions. M-F casual dress was an additional +++

Cons

I'm not exactly sure why, but working at this company seems to drain away people's happiness. It might be because it's a small company and so people are asked to do a LOT. For example you may be asked to cover duties and tasks completely outside of your skillset and main job duties at any time. If your peer quits, all their workload may fall on you indefinitely. It's a crapshoot if management replaces the employee that left with someone new. No recognition will be given for this extra effort, and if you can't handle doing the job of 2 people it will reflect negatively on you performance reviews. All of this doesn't seem to be malicious by management, but it drains the motivation of good people and grinds away happiness. I saw it happen countless times and experienced it first hand. Management would often give conflicting business direction and drop new tools/products/projects mid development. Because upper management comes up with new initiatives each quarter without fully vetting impact and risk. Lack of follow through. One more thing, if you do get hired here, negotiate the highest salary possible because annual raises leave much to be desired.

Pros

I've been a developer at 10 companies in just as many years and I can say with a clear conscience that DrFirst is one of the best employers I've ever worked for. I'm not doing this for money, nor am I a secret recruiter trying to sucker people into interviews for this company. I'm writing this review because when I was interviewing a year ago, I was turned off by the disparaging comments to a point I didn't even want the job. This continued into low expectations upon joining the company. Alas, my experience since then has been consistently positive. I'll just highlight a couple things: - environment is lax but not boring. there's work to do but reasonable deadlines. - processes are constantly changing for the better. - really great recent hires (at the management level) changing company culture for the better. - top-tier veteran developers who are great at teaching. - small teams and capable members who aren't afraid to step up. - growing company with funding = room for personal growth without killing yourself. It's probably hard to fathom why someone would write all of this without having an incentive. There's no incentive. Chalk it up to appreciation for the way that I was treated by the company. This was a good place for me.

Cons

Lack of bonus structure and financial incentives for over-achievers Lack of communication between teams Lack of good knowledge transfer Difficult to learn material and industry lingo if you don't come from a medical background Too many process changes too quickly
