Pros
If you are mediocre, it is easy to shine and move up because everyone else is so bad. A few managers (mostly hired from outside the bank) are very smart and professional. If you are lucky to have one of these rare managers, you can learn a lot and have good career opportunities.
Cons
The organization is a total mess - extremely cheap, unstable, unprofessional, disorganized and political. There is no training or decent computer systems. They hire the cheapest labor possible, which results in incompetent and lazy workers at all levels. The computer systems are so cheap and inefficient that you have to do a ton of manual work just to generate simple reports. Teams are understaffed so managers frequently assign you random things that are not part of your job. The bank constantly reorganizes the management structure and everyone is always confused. Management is very political and many are unqualified and very unprofessional. Most motivate workers through fear (yelling and threatening) rather than positive incentives. The company struggles to grow organically so it generates profits through acquisitions and by cutting costs as much as possible. Good people usually leave quickly. This was the worst culture I've ever seen and I don't remember anyone being happy here.
