Pros

Flexible schedule. Good training, some of which is paid. Opportunity for advancement. Great coworkers. Nice work enviroment. Supportive supervisors/managers. Interesting and challenging work. Great place to gain some experience or make extra money if you have another job. Managers work year round.

Cons

Starting salary is pretty low. It's not hidden from you, and the incentive is that you make more as you make more as you continue to grow your client list, become able to work faster, and to do more complex returns.

Pros

Amazing company culture. Employees genuinely love hanging out with the interns and would take us to lunch to chat about anything we wanted.

Cons

I didn't get to pick the exact information technology placement, it was random for all the incoming interns.

Pros

H&R Block provides thorough training, and employees should expect to study continuously throughout the season. The training is valuable and helps build a strong understanding of tax preparation. There are opportunities to "level up," and advancing through the certification levels can lead to higher pay over time. Management is approachable and readily available when assistance is needed.

Cons

The position is seasonal, and the starting pay is $12 per hour. During peak tax season, employees may work very long hours—sometimes up to 10 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week—which can be physically and mentally exhausting. In my first month, I also found that some of the staff were not especially welcoming, which made the initial adjustment more challenging.
