The closer you get to know about the upper management, the more disappointed you will be.
First of all, this company has zero tolerance for non-culture fit. Last year they fired half of the tech team because they were not a culture-fit (meaning they didn’t agree with what this company was doing). Although for employees who have values (particularly the ones that bring business), the company has all the tolerance for their attitude, even if they are rude and abusive to other team members.
Here is what I think of the true culture is:
Be Open – the only thing open here is the door, literally. Yes, they encourage you to have new ideas but if your ideas or thoughts do not align with what the company wants, they are not welcome and you are not considered a valuable resource (yes, they call you “resource” in this company).
Be Awesome – if you know how to document everything you do, make fancy charts and present them well, you are awesome in this company. Even if those reports provide no benefit to the current or future outcome of the project. As far as your actual work - “Everyone makes mistakes, it is not a big deal!”
Be Invested – the company is growing faster than we can handle. We take on contracts that we cannot fulfill so we have to cut corners on the work we do.
Be Thoughtful – this is true.
This company always says they are “transparent.” If you are an analyst, think about this - how come employees “disappear” in this company all the time? One minute they were discussing a new project with you, the next thing you know they “resigned” without a word to anyone. We are not talking about analysts. They were high-ranking people within the company. How about this – why do so many employees “disappear“ earlier than their departure day after they gave their resignations? And this - how come promotions always happen right after employee departures? Do they really deserve the promotions or were they being promoted because someone has to fill those shoes?
Most of the good employees were fired (because they gave valuable advice that unfortunately did not align with what the CEO and COO want) or resigned (who wants to bury their talent in this place after seeing what the upper management is truly about). Now we have two Directors who have no idea what we do. How can you improve something when you don’t have a fundamental understanding of the basic day to day processes?
