Pros

- Free soda and snacks - Easy going/startup type of environment - 401k matching - Management is not clueless to the low morale and lack of creativity that exists in the organization.

Cons

ExamSoft is like a restaurant, that instead of investing in Chefs and the ingredients they need to make delicious food that your customers love, they invest in servers who have annual 'apology tours' because the food was terrible. The food is terrible because the ingredients their chef's work with is terrible. The chef's leave because they regularly get yelled at by the servers who say customers hate the food. So ExamSoft hires more managers, who hire more servers, to apologize to more customers because no one is in the kitchen cooking anymore. ExamSoft is a software company that doesnt have software engineers. The average tenor of a software engineer is less than year. Look at their website's "Meet the team" page and click on the "Engineering" department. You see 4 people on that list. Now look at how many people are in "Global Customer Success" (account management) - close to 20. Why does a company need so many more account managers than Engineers? Because they'd rather invest in hiring people to provide customer service, rather than making customers happy by providing excellent products. Engineering used to follow Agile. Developers had a say in the direction of the product. There were product owners, scrum masters, tech leads, QA automation, and devops. Now the product backlog is a spreadsheet. Developers do whatever the managers say. There are no product owners, no scrum masters. DevOps is there to just keep the lights on. QA automation has been replaced with manual QA button clickers.

Pros

You'll have a chance to influence/improve the lives of teachers and students in higher education

Cons

A year or so ago I would have recommended this company wholeheartedly. They had some release/quality issues, for sure, but the culture and overall direction were solid. The company was actually a joy to work for. However, about a year ago senior leadership changed and everything went sideways. Over time they have dismantled the culture, driven away talent, and continued to make or allow terrible decisions. They choose to lead through fear rather than trust, react to disagreements with anger and no self control, and expose an ego so fragile that open and honest discussion becomes impossible. The company has been bleeding people since the beginning of 2018. For instance, more than 2/3 of the engineers that were employed on 1/1/2018 are no longer with the company. As incredibly high as that turnover rate is, leadership refuses to acknowledge that a problem exists at all. The leadership team seems to be utterly confused as they can't (or won't) view their actions and choices from their employees' points of view; in short, they lack empathy. They don't care about their employees or the future of the company itself, just their own careers. It's terribly unfortunate that a company with so many other things going for it could be completely ruined by a handful of individuals. For that reason, though, I strongly recommend anyone considering them for future employment looks elsewhere.

Pros

The HR department is awesome (especially the Director) but is completely limited in what they can accomplish due to the C-Level.

Cons

In 2017, this was the one of the best places to work with great technology and even better people. However, Examsoft has had over 69% of its engineering staff leave the company since January 1st of 2018. On average one employee is leaving at the end of each sprint (every two weeks). The incoming C-Level Exec Team has created a toxic work environment that is disconnected from the engineering team and has driven out all the good processes and people in the organization. The remaining leadership staff are mere puppets of the C-Level that lead via fear mongering and micromanagement. Though you might be quoted something from Patrick Lencioni's "Five Dysfunctions of a Team" in your interview have no doubt the C-Level Execs are deeply familiar with all the dysfunctions as they exhibit all of them on a regular basis. Do not work here under any circumstances.
