Pros

My current supervisor is very encouraging.

Cons

Other supervisors are not people people and are not knowledgeable. There seems to be room for growth, but when applying for other positions they don't get back with you. The pay is lousy for a billion dollar company unless you are a pharmacist.

Pros

Compensation in IT is generally competitive, benefits are decent. Paid time off is good, when you're allowed to take it.

Cons

After touting all the accomplishments of the IT team in recent years, upper management proceeded this last year to basically dismantle that very same team and replace a lot of people with outsourced contractors. This used to be a good place to work in IT, with good collaboration between teams and opportunities to learn and apply new technologies. Now it's just about pushing ambitious projects through with impossible deadlines. All projects are managed "by crisis", people are overworked and product quality is suffering. Project managers often don't understand what they're managing. This company basically sells information technology services for the health care industry, and yet treats IT as an expense, not as a revenue generator. They're foolishly counting on the economic downturn to get the most out of their employees without having to worry about keeping them happy. "You need to work harder, because the alternative is to be unemployed" is a popular "pep talk" given by management.

Pros

Benefits ok for some things, but salaries are terrible. raises are a disgrace 12 cents an hour,

Cons

Are on you constantly to keep stats up. Don't care if customers are satisified with call. Get alot of calls from senior citizens and they are constantly on you to cut them off and get onto another call. Do not have any empathy for their employees or their lives. Constantly tell employees they are the "most well paid call center" in other words don't expect a raise no matter how hard you work. Now they laid off all the pre-authorized department personel and are outsourceing that whole department. Unemployment is so bad in Minnesota now they laid off all these people. The almightly bottom line for their pockets.
