Pros

Turn over is very high so you my get promoted if you are willing to deal with the company

Cons

Every department that you talk to within the company feels over worked and understaffed. Some of this is due to ineffective leadership/management which is blatantly obvious in certain departments but in many cases such as account management it is a direct result of the company not wanting to staff accordingly. Account managers are stretched so thin that any new recruits who are decent get fed up and all leave. The worst part of it all is that company management KNOWS that account management is stretched thin and instructs account managers to flat out lie to their clients, telling them that they only have 10 or so accounts while in reality they have 20+. Early in the year the company decided to promote Tim Wentworth, to president. With this change we heard all about putting the client first, fixing the all the problems that integration caused and he mentioned the term "operational excellence" and how we had lots of work to do to get to where he wanted to be. Then came the 2Q earnings where Wallstreet questioned our costs and the company went right back to trying to cut costs. This fall should see even more cuts in budgets for next year and even more cuts to jobs in various parts of the company.

Pros

Decent benefits, 401K, TR, PTO (but good luck using it), nice HQ in St. Louis. Some genuinely nice people still remain. Can work from home or go into the office.

Cons

I have watched ESI fall to pieces over the last few years. I can now state without any uncertainty or hesitation that things will never improve. It's become too much of a mess. Most in leadership are simply not qualified, don't care, or are too busy to care. No clear career path and absolutely no training. Everyone's job is to just "try and figure it out" without asking too many questions. Everyone is miserable at this point with the biggest issue being work/life balance.....If you use one day of PTO, you will work 10-12 hour days for the next 5 days upon returning trying to catch up. So, if you use 1 full week of PTO, you will work approximately 25 consecutive 10-12 hour days upon your return. The culture at ESI is cut throat and very negative and hostile. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a happy, positive place to be. Every organization will have their share of issues, but, I can't imagine anything coming close to what my colleagues and myself have witnessed and endured. My advise to the potential ESI employee reading this - if you are presently employed and can at least tolerate your current job STAY WHERE YOU ARE. After 6 months of working at ESI, you will surely regret the day you ever applied or were recruited.

Pros

Work at home is an option. Some great people really do work there. I get a package for leaving. Made me happy.

Cons

No work life balance. It feels like a gang war between ESI and Medco employees. They protect the people who used to work with them at their previous company whether they are qualified or not. Project managers are more like analysts in some departments. Director wasted people's time with dumb assignments that added no value to the company. Why would project managers be listening to 50 calls a day? Where they do that at? Express Scripts. Client needs are not the priority. Members are suffering due to inept processes that people either don't know how to fix or too prideful to fix since it was supposed to be a perfect system. New system is so flawed and so inflexible, it's pathetic. Expect you to work a ridiculous amount of hours with not even a thank you.
