ThirtySomething heaven

Pros

Very profitable business model, stock seems to keep going up, pay was good, and that is about all that I can say.

Cons

As much as they talk of collaboration being the key, I didn't see it. Aggressive ThirtySomethings were very highly valued, while anyone with more than 10 years with the company was pushed aside regardless their abilities, history of collaboration success. For eager young professionals, it is a great place to learn, because everyone needs to attend the school of hard knocks and at ESI one has the opportunity to sink or swim or burn out. Good luck.

# 1 for wrong reason

Pros

Good people in all divisions and levels who do care and work hard. Bonus decent dependent on where you fall. Stock good if you get it. PTO decent

Cons

Benefits, holidays stingy and geared to a manufacturing environment. Culture of fear, punishment and politics of who you know, what location you work. Want inexperienced and obedient folks who question nothing and do meaningless projects. Who you have favor with is all that matters but no real loyalty except for a few. Efforts to suggest interest in change like surveys and rewards are superficial and insignificant to the larger issues. Not really interested in honest feedback so people don't speak the truth

Good, not Great

Pros

They do allow virtual offices, which is a plus for someone who doesn't like office living. ESI does not require a lot of travel, unless you're client facing. In that case, travel may be anywhere from 10-30% depending upon the client.

Cons

It's a club - and you're either in it, or not. Over the years, I have found that the opportunities are good, but not always accessible to everyone. Management tended to keep those close to them that were friends - others were hard pressed to find a true direction. I enjoyed my time at ESI tremendously - but all I can say is that CYA is the mantra.
