Pros

If you work at the headquarters in St. Louis, there is opportunity to move up and around in the company. Turnover is extremely high and tenure is low even at the VP level so there are always vacancies.

Cons

Outside of the headquarters, jobs are limited and remote/virtual opportunities are limited. Express Scripts' unofficial policy has been to hire outside the company to get the skills that they need for any given position instead of promoting and developing existing employees. Recent employee survey results were so bad that management would not publish the results. Lack of opportunities and training was one of the top complaints according to Senior Management's review of the survey. Other concerns included poor pay and poor work-life balance. Express Scripts has certainly earned their place as the 2nd worst company to work for in the US. Recent (2014) customer feedback from physicians, patients, drug manufacturers and insurance providers has also been extremely negative which is a reflection/result of the cutthroat, efficiency driven culture that the CEO George Paz has developed at Express Scripts and forced upon the newly acquired Medco Health Services.

7 weeks of training, great co-workers, decent starting pay and benefits,

Cons

you are graded on your calls , all of your calls are monitored, you can get very angry clients calling in and have to deal with them.

Cons

No support from upper management. Bad company policies that make no sense. Poor internal team work. No system training for staff or clients. I could go on and on, but should be #1 as the worst company in America to work for.

Pros

A very casual work environment. Able to work from home if you choose to do so.

Cons

Due to the migration, extremely poor work life balance. Need to provide better access for training, which would help improve employee job performance. Company is more concerned with getting work done with no regard to quality.

Pros

There are some good points to this company, those being the current salary and health insurance. Our location is union and I suspect this is the only reason we enjoy these perks. Unfortunately that is seemingly where the pros end.

Cons

No consistency in operations/policies, and managerial decisions rarely make sense. Time is often wasted being pulled into "huddles" where nothing is seemingly accomplished and the same things are being said every time like they are scripted. Training, is a joke. You are given a very rudimentary idea of how to do a job and then left to basically figure it out on your own. Don't rely on current operational procedures to remain consistent, as they will change and you will likely not be notified of this. There is also the "layoff factor". I realize that layoffs are a fact of life, especially when working in pharmaceuticals, but from what I've seen and read this factor is amplified to the extreme with this particular company. This can't be good for employee morale.

Poor leadership bec of ineffective decisions made, poorly executed training..often initiated at the last minute, and led by management who clearly do not know the job (so how can they train?) or given to a staff persons who do not great training skills (employees often overcome by helping each other, if they are self starters); company places POOR value on employees( who allow Express Scripts to succeed at times miraculously!) or constantly humiliate college educated staff members with with issues such as call monitoring (ie you did not say caller's name early enough in call, you talked too long, you repeated yourself, you did not end call with friendly end--even ifs a conference call) , on and on--but the phone call quality is SO POOR- that you double the amt of time on the phone because you can not understand the employees and callers. Call Center employees get dinged if they interrupt the caller (there is a call delay bec of the satellite--vs talking on a regular phone line, so if you start to talk and the caller begins to talk--the interruption is inevitable). IMagine trying to convey counseling to Senior Citizen callers who may already be hearing impaired, call delay, poor quality of phone lines.....do they reallly understand the counseling the pharmacist offerred? THis was a problem with Medco and its not improved with Express Scripts. THere is no work lilfe balance, no personal growth. I am angry with I read multiple reviews on this site that everything is wonderful, great environment, description of job is in depth described. I am sure these are written by upper level MGMT to off-set true reviews by employees. Morale is horrible everywhere.. does anyone realize another ~ 2000 employees are to be let go soon including several hundred pharmacists? Express Scripts is laying off former Medco employees and closing their former sites. Express employees and sites are not being affected. Think about that. Benefits have been greatly reduced, not attractive for hiring of hi quality employees. Benefit time compared to former Medco is less and you have difficulty getting time off and even approved. There is NO SICK TIME as a benefit, you have to take personal time off (ie vacation day).

In a large, building-wide meeting we were told that everyone giving terrible reviews on Glassdoor was just an disgruntled former employee, and nothing more. Well, yes, I am a former employee and I am disgruntled... but I quit, I did not get fired... Very insufficient training, as every trainer was different and therefore every new class of trainees got different rules and regulations. I have never complained about the pay at any job before, but for the knowledge required and the responsibility you have, the pay is way way too low. There is zero sense of any type of community. An employee such as myself, whose lowest accuracy was 96% but usually stuck around 98-99%, gets absolutely no bonus pay or incentives. I was treated the exact same as the employees whose accuracy was well below 90%. I had to beg for 9 months to even be allowed to assist those with low accuracy. Management does not care about employees improving themselves. Management was all very immature. Mood swings, cliques, and a response of "He's just young" to a harassment claim against a Team Lead. Lunches were hours-long. Employees were told to be dead silent but yet management walked around yelling hellos at each other and talking very loudly about personal issues. Very shady practices going on also in regards to things that impact employees. We were told there might be a schedule and pay change that many people did not agree with. The management pulled people into rooms individually and asked invasive questions: Are you married? Yes. How many cars do you have? When I told them one car, they asked where my spouse works and how my spouse gets to work. I told them my spouse's occupation and how he carries out his day is none of their business. How many children do you have and who cares for them? I also told them this was absolutely none of their business. Management was never interested in assisting anyone in advancing. I had found a position I was interested in and emailed my resume and intentions to the appropriate person and no one ever contacted me. The recruiter and my supervisor would not assist me, and I could not get the person hiring for the job to even pay me the time of day. I noticed some very dangerous, patient-impacting things taking place but no one cared. I kept a spreadsheet of 3 employees, hundreds of times, shipping medication to the incorrect person and/or address. These employees were not fired, given additional training, nor were they even spoken to about their mistakes. Attendance became the most important thing in the world to them, after not mattering at all for the longest time. I came to work on a very major highway that had accidents quite a bit. Every time I was late I called from the traffic, and let them know. It's not like I could have lied, because I could prove, through news stories, all of the accidents that I was stuck behind. They never hit me with attendance points... until I told them I was considering quitting. Then, in about 15 minutes, my supervisor came to me and told me I was half a point away from being fired for points that I had accumulated but was never approached about, and happened before the new attendance policy came about. I quit the next week.

Could be a great place to work, if your not in IT

Pros

Pay was ok, benefits average.No real on the job training. Since ESI bought out Medco, and adopted Medco's IT platform everything is done in India. Just enough IT done here to satisfy the ONshore laws concerning DOD.

Cons

No work lifer balance. In my department, call in sick and you are asked to work from home.

Good salary. Ok schedules good bonuses.

Cons

Poor communication across organization. Poor executive leadership. No commitment to employees or client strictly about the bottom line.. No true leadership development . The company does not have a good training program for their new hire resulting in huge turnover.
