IT Management

Pros

Good salary and bonus. Ability to work from home.

Cons

IT Upper Management in Bloomington said they wanted Power... Who says that? Many of them have no hands on experience and had relied on HP and other vendors to make decisions for them. Legacy Medco IT people have the experience and knowledge but were usually the first ones out the door during cuts.

You don't want to work there

Pros

It's close to home, and they do allow you to flex your schedule for appointments

Cons

They only care about making the Pharmacists happy. Upper management take the time to come on the floor and speak with and interact with the Pharmacists. They set out rate/hour unrealistically high to acheive and expect zero errors to be made, then berate you if you make errors or cannot acheive the high rate. The pay is low for your knowledge and they treat non pharmacist as "monkeys" that are incapable of having any intelligence or knowledge at all, even though there are many non pharmacist employees degrees, licenses, and certifications.

Overall an Awful Company

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Decent pay, usable accrued PTO per check, really good health insurance, 401k plans

Cons

poor upper management, no sick days (under federal grounds), hours stretch and shrink too much, not flexible with disabilities, no opportunities to advance in position unless you're close with management.

WORK/LIFE BALANCE

Pros

ESI understand that life doesn’t happen before 8am and after 5pm. Flexible hours, work from home and amazing people are just a few awesome reasons to work here.

Cons

I wish there were more woman in IT and upper management but that’s just IT in general.

Pros

Flexible schedules, decent resume building potential if you put in effort, it's a job that pays you decent (not the best pay for Phoenix area pbm. I'd advise to get in and get out)

Cons

It's like high school, a lot of clique networks, trash talking and gossip. It's not unusual for supervisors and leads to have relationships with lower level techs. Express scripts' internal culture is typical office politics, it's about who you know and not your skills - you will not advance if someone on the 'inside' network doesn't want you to have that position. There are people in upper management who got their jobs the same way, which creates a lot of messes throughout every level of the company. CEO George Paz was too cheap and destroyed the company's reputation, which is why so many client contracts are not being renewed. Current CEO Tim Wentworth is a Theater graduate and running a pharmaceutical company, that should tell you enough. ESI is under several legal messes and layoffs, while many employees go into work everyday with barely enough work because ESI is 'overstuffed' = more layoffs on the way. Instability is ESI's moto. They're quick to hire, quick to fire, quick to ruin something good (it's cyclic at ESI for things to be good, upper management wants to make 'changes', changes make everything a disasterous mess, they boot the bulk of the 'change' and things get good again, repeat). Jump ship before it's too late, I don't see DOD renewing their contract with ESI because they've dropped the ball too many times. Through all the messes and treating employees like garbage, CEOs and executives still get paid their base salary of millions on top of their 7 figure bonuses.

future uncertain

Pros

good workflow and flexible hours in come cases, really get to help people at times

Cons

Upper management does not seem to address the gorilla in the room, the fight with Anthem. Both parties seem to just sling mud in the courts...like Kim JongUN versus the Donald.

Employees treated as numbers

Pros

Lots of work, great co-workers, benefits are decent. Different type of business so lots to learn.

Cons

Long hours, understaffed, no direction from leadership, favoritism, projects started then stopped halfway through development due to upper management change of direction. Employees treated as numbers instead of humans. Expected to work late nights and weekends. No consideration for employee longevity
