Pros

The people were very friendly. Other agents very helpful in the most part. The Office was bright and airy. I made quite a few friends.

Cons

Lack of communication between managers and front line staff. Call structure was bordering on the ridiculous, very robotic. If you didn't follow exactly you lost large part of your bonus. If you couldn't comply with customers often outrageous demand for reduction in costs then customer gives you bad review this counted against your quality scores even though you were complying with company policies. Computers crashing sometimes several times in a shift. Each breakdown had to be logged or your pay would be docked for time off line. Often turned up for shift and was unable to find an unoccupied desk. It was chaotic and that was on a good day. My headphones were stolen and I was forced to pay £40 for a second hand set. This was taken straight from my wages so I had no say in the matter. During the big holidays there would be treasure hunts for some very nice prizes, unfortunately it was always management and team leaders who found the treasure because agents were not allowed time off the phone to participate. Very unfair and complaints were put down to sour grapes. No work/life balance and if you tried to get time off for an unexpected family event it was always refused. The reason given was that you knew you were working flexible hours when you took the job. It's a pity this flexibility didn't work both ways. They expect 110% loyalty from you, just don't expect any in return

Pros

You're paid minimum wage and given 40 hours a week, so it is indeed steady employment and you're not likely to ever get sacked unless you start screaming down the phone at a customer and swinging punches at people.

Cons

You will be treated like absolutely dirt by people are aren't as qualified as you to do their jobs. Everyone in the call centre is there for the same reason you are; the economy is on a downturn and a call centre job was the quickest you could get. You will be monitored by OPs managers and team leaders who will literally tell you off if you take too long going to the toilet. I have received a threat because I was closing an issue on an account I dealt with the previous day and they saw this as not being "available for calls". This is the modern day workhouse. You clock in at the exact time or you'll be punished. You work non-stop throughout the day or you'll be punished. Say goodbye to evenings and weekends because you can be sure your hours will not allow you those, you'll be in customer service. I would 100% recommend you avoid employment in Firstsource. You deserve better than minimum wage for a job that will mentally exhaust you and management that will treat you terribly.

Pros

So very little. Free sky package if you stick it

Cons

Pointless training, you will not be ready to use the systems they use. They say before you get to the floor "Ask for as much help from the team leaders and floor walkers, they are paid to help you", reality is most of them don't care and will huff and then berate you if you don't get something within a micro second. The constant barrage of sales enforcement (although throughout the training you'll be told it's a no pressure environment). Absolutely no understanding if you take time off for illness or God forbid your children are sick. No support. Everyone in this place smiles at you and tells you what you want to hear, slaps you on the back and pretends to be the bestest friends you've ever had whilst all the time looking after number 1, watch your back in this place. Seriously if you are thinking of taking up a place to work here, don't be surprised if within a week or 2 you are looking for a way out. There is a revolving door at the entrance for a very good reason. Stay away and keep your dignity intact.
