Pros

Some of the managers are fairly nice and clearly don't like the job very much either. Management and HR are so disorganised, so many new staff are hired and so many leave each month - that for the most part its pretty easy to just keep your head down and get on with the job as well or as badly as you feel like.

Cons

Some of the managers (and others in positions of some sort of authority) are deliberately not very helpful, and a few, really need to learn how to speak to people in a civilised manner. Company refuses to provide written terms and conditions of employment (or rather, ignores repeated requests to). Make deductions from wages and/or fail to pay bonuses, usually with little explanation. They're threatening to once again stop paying staff for 'unplanned breaks' (ie. going to the toilet). At least they're warning us this time I suppose, the first I knew about it last time was when a notice went up saying that 'unplanned breaks' had been reintroduced. This rule isn't the only one that is seemingly 'subject to change' as far as this company is concerned. Trying to change shifts or book holidays can be an absolute nightmare. If there aren't enough 'hours' they simply won't do it and would rather you not be able to get home from work rather than let you finish half hour early to catch the train (if there's engineering work on and a later train has been cancelled that night). Poor pay (minimum wage) despite long hours with little downtime - combine this with being treated like dirt and it doesn't make for a particularly great job.

Pros

You are truly helping the local community to cover medical bills through government programs at no cost to the patient. Managers truly care about their people as well as the work being done. The company wants to pay their hourly employees for every minute that they work.

Cons

Way upper management is absolutely clueless about how to maintain employee morale (which is currently very low). The same day they announce record company profits, they announce a severe cut to all future raises company wide. Promotions to other departments are almost impossible to get. You are told you need a specific skill set and then when asking how to get them are basically told you have to take major pay cuts to take a start position and work your way up. Promotions and new hires are constantly low balled in the pay offered. You tell them you require X to move into a position, they offer x - 15 to 20 %. The company is a clock watcher. I am not in favor of employees being routinely late, but knocking of 1/2 a point due to bad traffic one day on an excellent employee seems harsh to me, but it does this uniformly, so it is fair.
