Pros

The non senior employees are a reason to work here and stay here. There are even some senior management employees that are great to work with and for. Unlimited paid time off and other Benefits are great.

Cons

They have moved away from some core principals. Profit is the end all be all now. Taking over the world in tech ed is also top dog. They have removed some of the real brains and inspirational leaders without cause or knowing how their absence would affect clients and teams alike. Moral is at all time low.

Thanks for your review – it is unfortunate to hear how you feel. It is hard to tell from your review whether you are still at Frontline, but regardless I would love to connect and discuss your perspectives. As the HR leader (and speaking for our Sr. Leadership as a whole) I take your feedback on core values seriously. It’s important that instead of pointing the figure at being profit focused, that you help me understand which core values that you don’t feel we are embracing. I don’t believe that striving to be the best technology company serving the K12 market, or closely tracking our profitability is mutually exclusive of aligning with our core values. To be successful – we must balance both. We have a company to run, and we strive to be a profitable one that remains focused on the “HOW’ we do business… In addition, an important piece of our growth strategy is through acquisitions. While that is not going to change in the foreseeable future - it's not our single focus. If you have questions on our plans for growth outside of 'buying companies' - I'm sure any senior leader would be happy to chat with you about Frontline's plans for future success and the road to get there. I welcome the opportunity to listen to any additional or specific feedback you have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out! ~ Laurel McDermott (Director, HR)

Pros

Excellent benefits, fair compensation, and depending on the team you are working on, exciting technical challenges (or dismal legacy maintenance work....).

Cons

Every manager I interacted with lacked personal integrity. At one point it seemed like upper management was making a point of hiring unsavory characters in middle management to keep the rest of us in line. Majority of coworkers are good people, but there are a surprisingly high number of individuals overly focused on career advancement and willing to engage in somewhat dodgy behavior (including undermining their coworkers) in order to get ahead. I suppose this behavior is due to the culture fostered by management to some extent.

Pros

My experience at Frontline has been nothing short of remarkable—I’ve been trusted with opportunities that are valuable for my career, been surrounded by coworkers and mentors who truly care, and been part of a team that’s united in making a positive impact. Some pro's: -PEOPLE!- The best part about Frontline is certainly the people: from employees all the way up to our company leadership, I have met some of the nicest, kindest people at Frontline who genuinely care about their co-workers and the educational community. -Flexibility—Managers and coworkers have gone above and beyond to encourage work /life balance and my overall well-being. -New opportunities for growth- The high growth & constant evolution of Frontline are creating a lot of space for employee potential as there is always new skills to learn & projects to pitch in on! I am constantly amazed by how different & exciting & engaging every day is. -Benefits—low premiums on health insurance, decent 401K match, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, generous time off policies -Integrity- there’s a real sense of integrity in the company. People mean what they say & are constructively transparent. -Teamwork- Frontline’s teams value unique perspectives and diverse ideas. Different company leaders have sought out feedback in many ways—from project based feedback, to breakfast with an executive, to an annual employee survey.

Cons

Tension from Growth- Frontline is a unique company, rapidly growing both from hiring and acquisitions. We’re trying to be an industry-leading enterprise company without necessarily having the deep pockets or manpower of an established tech giant. This can be difficult & has created some internal tension. Not a place to coast—If you are looking for a 9-5 where you can just coast & not be challenged, then this is certainly not the place for you. You will be challenged at this company—and if you’re willing to get onboard and pitch in, it’s an amazing experience!
