Pros

Honestly the people on the team are really fun! The product is really good too for what’s out there in this space. Working with nonprofits is rewarding. The CEO and other founders and upper management seem to be nice! But don’t get a lot of interaction with them. I think they care about their company and the technology they provide.

Cons

Where do I even start? Management is not good at all. They will micromanage you to death and don’t trust you at all to do your job. Virtually no one is going to hit quota, maybe 2-3 people, but the rest would be lucky to hit 50% of their quota. They will lie to you in interviews, and a lot of AEs feel lied to about the job. The inbounds are really horrible and not a lot of people close outbound deals, so not a lot of deals get closed in general. At least half the sales team is looking for another job that I know of. And we know they are hiring and for a lot of us it is confusing since there’s not a lot of people on track to hit quota. About 6 months ago there were a little over 30 AEs, now we half less than half we had because people have gotten fired or quit. And then they want to hire more people? It’s so confusing and disheartening for a lot of the people here who already have a hard time closing deals. I think that the CEO and other upper upper level management cares a lot, and that’s why it’s frustrating for the sales management to hinder our ability to sell. I’ve had a lot of AE roles and this has been the worst for sure.

Be ready for micro managing

Pros

The team is amazing. The product is fantastic. Reaching out to nonprofits to help them grow is rewarding.

Cons

Management is inexperienced and out of touch. The sales quotas are unattainable for 95% of the team. You will be micromanaged and given feedback on live cold calls DURING the call in front of all of your coworkers. KPIs are tracked everyday and management is on you about taking time off, even though it's supposed to he unlimited. Even asking for a day off for a doctor's appointment is like pulling teeth. Team members are let go without much warning so every day staff is walking on eggshells worried they are next.

Great job but intense!

Pros

The product is awesome and primed to gobble up market share. Senior leadership has really impressive backgrounds, great vision, and unique talents. Department leaders across the company are in sync with the overall mission and do really excellent work (Research and Development, CS, and Marketing all have driven, talented people). Sales management is inexperienced (promoted from within) but well-intentioned and willing to grow, most of the growing pains mentioned in other reviews have already been addressed which will be nice for future AEs. They promote from within. Work with nonprofits of all sizes; access massive Enterprise accounts from day one and close them to permanently improve your resume. Base pay is fair, benefits are great. Cool teammates from all over. Work from home, generally don't mind if you have to pick up your kids or whatever just be accessible during work hours. High risk high reward situation; it's a volatile startup but with that comes potential for accelerated career growth. Encouragement to develop as a thought leader and build your network; great job to springboard into the nonprofit tech industry as a whole. Lots of cultural openness around mental health and personal growth. Excellent coaching to hone your sales skills at every stage of the sales cycle. Compelling comp plan with tons of earning potential. I think this is an awesome opportunity if you're looking for a SaaS AE job that's gonna prep you for big career growth; just be aware that it's a grind!

Cons

There are no SDRs! you will receive some inbound leads but most deals are generated through cold outbound prospecting (minimum 25-50 calls daily). Paths to promotion are currently unclear. Takes a long time to generate substantial commissions; some deals are shorter sales cycles but those tend to only be a fraction of what you need to hit targets. Larger deals are necessary to hit targets but often take months or even years of nurturing. It's super intense. you're both an SDR trying to gain traction in a saturated market and a world-class SaaS AE doing full tech demos for C-suites at massive nonprofits. The stakes and expectations are very high for both aspects of the job. Things change super quick. The learning curve eased a bit after onboarding but this is not a job where you cannot rely on muscle memory very much. Expectations are high. Everything you do is recorded and analyzed. It'll help you get better quick but be ready. It's a scrappy, lean company. There's occasional dissonance between values and execution but I've seen them take feedback seriously and make positive changes without exception.
