Risky, but could offer career opportunities
Pros
- Located in a beautiful building on the water with cool art works and a nice patio over looking the bay. - Laid-back environment (you're selling jeans). Work from home Fridays and the building clears out by 4. - Decent benefits and nice discount at stores - Lots of opportunities for climbing the ladder, if you prefer very unstructured environments and near chaos (due to the cons).
Cons
- About to undergo layoffs and restructuring. Didn't pay bonuses last year. Unlikely to pay bonuses next year. - Poorly structured (lots of redundancy across the brands due to decentralization) and siloed (IT and analytics have an adversarial relationship). They hope to fix this with the upcoming spinoff of Old Navy, though management is unlikely to pull it off successfully. - Poor technology (e.g. "data scientists" are actually analysts and the "cutting edge" at Gap is building PowerBI dashboards using SQL).
