Lots of potential, but...

Pros

Great team, great customers, great industry. Fun place to work in, family oriented, and flexible work place.

Cons

Weak human resources department. An environment of micromanagement, from the top down. If you speak up or disagree, you are put on the naughty list until you either quit or get fired. Your success is based on your relationship with the owners/management team. If you're "in" the circle, then you are set, if not, then it's over for you.

Don't Trust The Hype

Pros

This could actually be a very good company, but they need to look into the company culture. Time-off requests are granted. They encourage you to take your vacation time. Pay is decent, but you could probably make more money elsewhere. People are generally laid-back, most people in this company have families and kids.

Cons

It’s funny how a slew of 5 star ratings came in a little over a week. The HR department probably caught wind of a less than stellar view of the company and asked people to write positive reviews. There is a small group of people that are rabidly biased about this company. This company suffers from groupthink. The lifers have bought into the groupthink and will not bring new ideas to the table. If you’re new this can be very frustrating, and it feels like nothing ever gets done. If you’re interested in being micro-managed then this is the perfect job for you. You’re going to have to log every minute into a homegrown product called GTSWIN. This is a double-edged sword. Logging every minute of your time may be tied to your bonus and/or yearly raise. It’s good while you are getting those raises and bonus because no one is really looking that closely. As soon as you are determined a “B” or “C” player everything gets scrutinized more thoroughly and they will use everything they can against you. “B” and “C” players not necessarily determined on work performance, they are more than likely determined on your relationships with the management team. Firing of people is inconsistent. If the executive team likes you, you’ll be repositioned. If the executive team doesn’t like you, you’ll be fired. This has nothing to do with the actual work you have performed.

Hi Anonymous, Thank you for your feedback. We are always looking to improve Gateway Ticketing Systems and your review is helpful to let us know what to work on. Hopefully you participated in our recent employee survey that was part of our second quarter initiative to focus on culture. I think we've got a great culture here as you can see from the many long-time employees who are passionate about the company and our customers. It's not perfect - no company is - and we know we can always improve and will keep working to do so. You mentioned the need to log your time. It's a basic metric we use for understanding how our business is operating. We use it to understand where our projects are, and to identify support issues to escalate if they're taking longer than expected to resolve for a customer. At times we have provided incentives above and beyond your salary to promote more use of the system when it's been lagging. My door is always open if you'd like to stop by and meet with me in person. I'd love to hear your thoughts on ways to keep our "A" players and how we might address your other concerns. I'm very enthusiastic about the future of Gateway Ticketing Systems and I hope you can be, too. Kind regards, Michael

Pros

The company culture is great and I would recommend this company to anyone. Flex time - perfect. Salary - Perfect. Benefits - Perfect.

Cons

Human resources team - not so perfect. When you send in your application there is no call back. I recommended an ex-colleague for a job where the person I was recommending was a great fit. My reference was not hired which is absolutely fine but there was no communication saying we've received your resume or even a first screening calling - nothing. Not the first time they've done this, this is strike 2 for me. For a candidate that is anxiously awaiting some response it is a real disappointment when the company is incommunicado, especially when the resume came with an internal recommendation.
