Pros

- Everybody that is entry level, or mid are really cool people. - the environment is really chill but productive simultaneously. - office area is very nice, decent snacks.

Cons

- it’s a good ole boys club. The hierarchy of the org chart is a clique of friends who are self serving and dismissive. - there is a disparity in how the offices are managed & treated. The HQ (NYC) is full of privileged, loudmouth, and air headed individuals who wallow in their personal , and selfish desires. The SF office is much more down to earth and a far more inviting space that is overlooked due to its small size ( as compared to the HQ ) and friendly demeanor. - there is a stranglehold on the company by management. If your not acquiescing to their direct and indirect demands regarding personality or culture fit, you will be scolded and made out to be a cancer. - entry level and mid level employees shoulder about 90% of the work, while management schedules parties, camping trips, & their next leisure expenses for themselves. - communication with upper management is toxic. They have an archive of scripted lines, questions, and answers that they utilize to keep employees in line. - no diversity whatsoever. The CEO had a presentation about the different ethnicities & their percentages within the company. In 2017, the numbers looked more like 80 % white, 10 % Asian, 8 % middle eastern, 2% minority. Going into 2018, the CEO provided these numbers to illustrate a shift in diversity; 78% white, 11% Asian, 9 % middle eastern, and still 2% minority. Major shift as you can see. - their are individuals within the company that have been known to be cancerous and extremely hard to work with, yet their in management, so when issues with management is brought to the attention of other management, they overlook it or get rid of you to keep up the status quo. - depending on the team you work on , there can be a lot of gossip, tug o wars, or shady characters. Instead of speaking with one another about their differences and how to tackle them to move forward, they internalize it and wait for the right time to call you out or go to management to attempt to get you fired. It’s a systemic thing starting from the management at HQ trickling down to everyone under them.

First off, I'm sorry that you had such a negative experience here at Greenhouse. We try to provide a positive experience for everyone and help people to do their best work, in an open and collaborative environment. I think we do a pretty good job of it but obviously no one's perfect and clearly your experience here was not representative of that. I would invite you to discuss these topics directly with either me, or the People Team. As you can imagine we'd be very distressed to see this type of experience become more widespread and we’d be eager to hear from you (or any current or former employees experiencing something similar). Anything we can learn from you about how this happened would help. In any event I hope that since you've moved on, you've managed to find a workplace where you feel happier. For anyone reading the review, I did think it was important to note for the record that the diversity numbers it cites are not accurate. We did in fact report diversity numbers to the company, but they are different than those the author cites, nor are the categories listed above the categories we use.

Pros

1. Amazing Product. Greenhouse is truly the best recruitment platform in the market even though innovation has slowed recently. 2. The people are the companies best asset. 3. Comp is stellar.

Cons

1. No room for growth, work there for the resume boost and then leave for a better opportunity. 2. Chaos within the sales organization. (mass layoffs and lots of turnover) 3. Recently promoted VPs lack experience necessary to be successful in their new roles.

Well, let’s get the easy stuff out of the way first. Thanks for the compliments! I agree our products and people are the best! And we take great care to pay people fairly so I’m glad you see that working well too. Now to the harder stuff. I can’t respond to each of your “con” points here as they involve quite a bit of detail, some of it non-public, but I’m happy to chat further about them if you’d like, Stop by my desk! To your point about career growth I’ll say this: I’m glad you’re ambitious; we try to hire great people and ambitious people always need continual career growth. Of course some people’s career ambitions fit within what we can provide as a company while others’ sometimes cannot. If that’s you, by all means you owe it to yourself to pursue the best path for yourself. I don’t begrudge anyone leaving for better opportunities if we can’t provide them. Having said that, we promoted 27% of people in the past 6 months and continually look for ways to provide more growth opportunities. I’m sorry if that hasn’t helped you - please let your manager, the People team, or myself know. I absolutely promise that your concerns will be taken seriously and we will work on it together with you. It’s not a joke at all to me. I wish you were having a more positive experience here. It’s not too late! Come find me, your manager, or someone on the People team and let’s see if we can improve things from here. - Daniel

Pros

I have a great leader who genuinely cares about our team, which is the only reason I'm still here. Our ERGs were once a strong source of psychological safety and community, offering a space where diverse voices felt heard and supported. Unfortunately, this has changed since key senior leaders who championed diversity and inclusion effectively are no longer with the company.

Cons

I've been with Greenhouse Software for several years, and while the company prides itself on being "people first" and inclusive, my experience tells a different story. Despite the company's marketing, I have observed that true inclusivity and support for diverse leadership are lacking. The founders seem to protect long-tenured, white talent, creating barriers for diverse leaders who are striving to make a difference. It's disheartening to see the company's commitment to diversity appear superficial—especially when it seems like it's only a matter of time before the two inclusive Asian leaders are pushed out. The reality is that diversity shouldn't be about optics or having "colored children" as a justification.

That said, I want to address your comments directly. We are deeply committed to inclusion, equity, allyship, and building a diverse leadership team. Therefore, we take great concern with the several allegations you have posted in this review. Open and transparent dialogue is a critical part of creating a culture of belonging, and we encourage all employees to use the resources available to them. Unfortunately, Greenhouse hasn’t been able to substantiate these allegations given that the information presented in this public review was not presented in any of the many channels that Greenhouse provides to address matters like this, including speaking with your People Business Partner, our PX & IDEA team, the anonymous Employee Concern Hotline, asking a question via our AMAs, or direct conversations with managers, SLT, or ELT members. Greenhouse’s commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Allyship (IDEA) has been a foundational pillar of our company. Therefore, It is paramount that our employees feel safe and empowered to bring their whole selves to work. If you are still a part of Greenhouse, I encourage you to reach out through any of the many channels mentioned above so we can address your concerns directly. Constructive feedback shared through these avenues allows us to take meaningful action and better support our employees. While I cannot change past experiences, I remain committed to ensuring Greenhouse continues to be a place where everyone feels valued, supported, and heard. I encourage you to use your voice in places that can affect meaningful change. We are more than happy to hear it. Thank you again for your feedback.
