Pros

There is a core group of people who have worked at HRB for many years, and I found most of them to be supportive and professional. I noted a sense of pride among the long-time employees. I liked the flexibility in terms of scheduling shifts as a seasonal tax preparer.

Cons

There seemed to be a lot of technology issues. The phone system was antiquated and unreliable. Software problems were prevalent. More important than the tech challenges, I felt the company was overly-focused on profit. Yes, it's a for-profit enterprise, but there comes a point where the emphasis on money-making is too evident. Base pay for tax preparers was pitiful, yet the charges to the customer often seemed unreasonably high. Where's all the money going?
