Casual environment, great for social people, challenging

Cons

They typical receptionist junk, like having to maintain appointments when tax pro's were running over their times. Nothing to crazy though. "Free tax prep" was a joke, because the fees were taken out of the next paycheck.

Pros

Tax season hours allow you to get in those hours, you meet a lot of people and deal with many different types of people, the work is fast-paced, the job is simple: Greet clients, answer the phones, double- and triple-check tax documents, file.

Cons

No work in the off-season unless you can work beside a tax pro that also handles small businesses and audits, pay generally will not increase past $9/hr

It is a great place to work as a second job. I would not advise someone to work at HR Block as a full-time career. People worked with were great. The flexible schedule is awesone

Cons

Career advancement is slow. I would reccommend this job to only those indviduals who are looking for a second job.
