Pros

Great coworkers, training programs, and schedule flexibility; district management is top-notch and very supportive.

Cons

There are no year-round opportunities, but that's because they generate the vast majority of their business during tax season (Jan. - April) - it's the nature of the beast. Hourly pay is not commensurate with the skills, knowledge, and work demands of the average tax preparer.

Pros

Most of the people are friendly and want to help you learn the position. They are sympathetic to family emergencies that come up. Someone brings in donuts on Saturday mornings.

Cons

They ask for the hours that you are available ("commitments"), and then schedule you for hours you have requested not to work with no explanation. You are on your feet nearly the entire shift - and just about running the whole time looking for someone to take a client. So busy, during busy weeks, that you are not able to take breaks, 6-8 hour shifts with no food and barely time to grab water or use restroom. 6 day work weeks for some, while others have 2 or 3 days off, when all have provided similar "commitments"; again no explanation. Sometimes you will work 8 hours, sometimes less, sometimes more, no consistency to the schedule - not clear if you are a full time or part time employee. Because it's seasonal: if you don't work, you just don't get paid; no sick/personal days. A lot demanded of you for just over minimum wage. Along with front desk duties: you make the coffee, change the 5 gallon water bottles, there is no cleaning service so employees are expected to vacuum, dust, clean bathrooms, wash windows, etc...
