Pros

- Office culture was nice, everyone was helpful. - Plenty of training for new preparers and plenty of on-going support and continuing education. - Very flexible schedule (busy at the beginning and end of the tax season though).

Cons

The pay is somewhat low if you're starting out.

Pros

They train you well to be a taxpro before you start working (tuition is affordable), and then you learn a lot of other important skills while working there, like organizational skills, time management, manning front desk when required, proper filing procedures etc. Good mentoring. Flexible hours.

Cons

Seasonal job. Low starting salary. Good extra income or second job. You do not make enough money to make this your main job for living. Even if you wanted to work for H&R Block through out the year and apply for Dist office jobs, there are long gaps of no work. Even when you are working there are gaps where you work less than 10-15 hrs a week, during the slow months. The bonus system with promise of extra income at the end of season only works in a very busy office, if you have back to back appointments with clients through out the season.
