Pros

Block provides useful hands on experience, provides training and education. It is a great way to learn while making a little bit of money.

Cons

Personal growth opportunities are very good, compensation is lousy. Especially when you consider how much additional training people participate in throughout the year and the amount of responsibility doing taxes entails. Many employees will clock out when they do not have clients to "improve" their numbers. They will be scheduled for a certain number of hours but will clock out if they are not working with a client. - Basically sitting there for free.

Pros

Casual work environment Free tax prep Good benefits if one of the lucky few "permanent" employees

Cons

Many positions are seasonal only, even at World headquarters No benefits for seasonal employees Seasonal employees are not eligible for most company activities/benefits even though they do the same jobs as permanent employees and come back year after year
