Pros

If you want a simple, yet intellectually stimulating job when you have no prior experience, H&R Block may be the place for you to learn on-the-job skills without needing a college degree. It is a great place for an entry level position that is sophisticated enough (taxes anyone?) to look great on a resume. It is not your typical job. Here you can learn about an important life skill-- doing tax returns--and help your community benefit from your knowledge and experience. If this sounds like the role you want, then H&R Block is the place for you.

Cons

Clients can be slow and demanding at times. You will definitely be working strenuously the last two weeks before the tax deadline. Be prepared and use the first two or three months of your seasonal position to become efficient in the process as you will end up doing 6-10 returns per day as clients rush in last minute. So use your down time to learn the tax law, and always make sure to follow due diligence requirements. Other than that, this job is as straightforward as a "W-4."
