Toxic Corporate Culture

Pros

- There are some genuinely good people to work with - A great feeling to help many people during stressful tax times

Cons

- Constant executive course correcting and lay-offs. I've never seen a company cycle through so many high-level people and it never seems to end. I'd like to see how much they spend a year on separation agreements. - The brand is somewhat tainted, Jeff Jones cares very much about getting on the cover of Fortune or Fast Company but at the end of the day it's a strip mall tax preparer who rips off their customers. It's only a matter of time that it becomes the next Sears or JC Penny. - Business is in decline, just look at the last results presentation, they filed less returns this year than last. Now that covid years are over, reality will set in, they will continue to be a business in decline which means for more quick decisions and course correcting to save face with investors. - Incompetent IT department will ensure the company remains irrelevant when it comes to innovation and digital transformation.

Pros

• Extremely flexible May-December, but only because you are a very part-time employee • That's it

Cons

• None of the proprietary systems within the company work. If you think this tax company should be able to reliably file taxes, you would be wrong. • The company has discovered how to erase trust with its employees AND clients • The company's business outlook is extremely poor and will only get worse. Not only because the IRS is changing how taxes get done, but because of the awful decisions the company makes regarding technology and retaining talent • The company has a culture of complete ambivalence, taking the name and brand for granted. For example: • Tax software for 2022 was built on a system that Microsoft stopped supporting almost 2 years ago
