Pros

- Work from home most days - Choose what times to service office - Great for kids that know absolutely nothing, my lead said all he needed to hire was a body and a car

Cons

- They will hire anyone for IT, there are many bodies, but few minds - They expect you to train people with lesser knowledge, as in "team spirit" - Lies, lies, lies... lied about rate of pay, lied about travel range with my own car, lied about "networking" offices when it was really crawling on concrete floors and tearing down offices to put in a storage container - They will tell you that you won't handle tax calls/tax software, but that is going to be 80% of your calls. Go ahead and call them on it, they don't care.

Great job for the right person

Pros

Inclusive work environment. Flexible work schedule. All the training and tax related education you could ask for. Clients for the most part are wonderful. This job is perfect for military spouses, retired people looking for extra income, stay at home parents wanting to earn some money and get out of the house, or those that have full-time employment but want a 2nd job for 15-16 weeks a year.

Cons

Tax Professional pay structure needs to change, not competitive enough for what is asked of the employees. Work is seasonal, being full-time plus from January-April and a possibility of part time work the rest of the year. They make everyone take 8 weeks off so they can keep you seasonal and don't have to offer the same type of benefits they do with permanent full-time employees. You would not want this job if you needed year round/full-time work with benefits.

Pros

Flexible schedule, great co-workers, wonderful clients, exercises both your mind and your people skills.

Cons

Pay is not competitive. Company has forgotten that customer service means treating the customer as s/he wishes to be served, not as the company thinks s/he wants to be served. Emphasis is on quantity, not quality, tax preparation. Has become a bit of a sweatshop.
