Pros

The best reason to work for H&R Block is for the tax preparation experience and meeting people in the community. You can also take online courses regarding new tax laws to increase your knowledge and up your hourly pay. It may also be accepted as college credit at some universities at a minimal cost.

Cons

The downside of H&R Block is the poor in class instructors and their inablility to instruct in a consistant manner. Also some offices tend to ignore the tax law which puts the taxpayer and the company at risk for audit, fines or imprisonment depending on how bad the offense may be.

Pros

Excellent pay, flexible hours allowing students such as myself to work only on the weekends and at night. The experience that you have interacting with clientele and the other employees makes this a very enjoyable job where the time flies by. The pay is excellent if you are reasonably intelligent and you actually make a positive change to some peoples lives.

Cons

The required training can appear to be a bit tedious but I supposed that some of it is required for a reason. The corporate bologna is also a bit of a pain at times, but I think every company has that type of problem.

Pros

The money with a short working season.

Cons

If you get a bad office you will not make any money. Just shove the return out the door. Not enough people to do the work during the busy time. If you work summer service you have to deal with all the mistakes others make. I work for a franchise and the owners only care about the money and what big trips they can take. Most people that been their seven or eight years can only do a simple return. If you come in with experience they will not give credit if outside HR Block even if higher experience.
