Pros

I enjoyed working with some of the staff who I enjoyed seeing each day. Sometimes you get free food from banquets.

Cons

Where to begin. HHM is by far the worse employer I have experienced. When I was first onboarded, I was excited for the new job opportunity and fulfillment I could bring to the position. That dream was, however, short lived. HHM creates a toxic work environment by overworking, and over expecting from their sales teams. The training is almost nonexistent. You start with the training from the online courses from your brands training website, but don’t expect to finish them. You will be thrown into full expectations before you are able to finish. Hotels are understaffed, creating a high demand workflow. I was scheduled to work 9-hour days but was scolded for taking breaks. The only breaks I could get throughout the day were bathroom breaks, which became an issue for management. They expect you to be this machine which is always on. Socializing with your coworkers, and getting to know them, is strictly prohibited, as you will be told you have too much work to do and should not be talking to anyone. HHM management stresses the importance of work-life balance, yet their actions say otherwise. The level of micromanagement I received from my supervisor was unfounded. I was given no autonomy to do my job. You are constantly criticized for your shortfalls, yet not congratulated on any of your wins, creating an environment where you feel nothing you do is ever right. If it was not done the way my supervisor would have done it, it was therefore wrong. Rather than springing for a Microsoft license for products like Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive, HHM decides to use Google and Gmail, which simply does not provide a useful platform for a smooth and organized professional workflow. I would not recommend anyone to work for this company. With a high rate of turnover, it’s no surprise employees feel miserable working for this management company.

Pros

Direct Deposit, travel discounts withave the brand

Cons

Well there are so many Cons. The senior management team in their corporate offices don't seem to realize what is happening at the property level. The GMs...and many AGMs just want to crack the whip and don't lead by example. The company is a revolving door. No training except for the brand training and new hire orientation. Orientation was ok, the HR person was really nice but they only had 1 HR person in NYC, and we couldn't really use her because she only supported that property. 19 hotels and no HR. I later found out she left this horrible company too. Managers yell at people, the pay sucks, the benefits are horrible. No one cares, the staff is demotivated. In this day and age how can a company not care about their employees? No one grows. I was told most employees who want to grow, should work at the HGI on 54th Street, but everyone leaves that hotel. No work life balance unless you are buddy buddy with the senior leaders. Stay far away from this company, it's just bad. Not worth it. I left a job got this maddness.
