Pros

- Remote first, but now but seems to be moving towards hub zones, and then maybe in-office. - Good place to learn due to flexible managers and lack of process.

Cons

- New management seems to be finally moving the culture in the direction the last CEO intended; performance culture. - Management is tracking notorious metrics like MR/PR submission and comment counts, LOCs, etc, and using them to rank people. - Salary is mid to low end; no other forms of comp. Options were underwater till the board recently took action to bring it back to near 0. Potential eng candidates were usually lost when they had another offer. - Some teams lack process and coordination which is causing coordination and burnout hardships. - Recently roles were re-leveled to pull in more requirements related to AI and requirements from the level above them. - With an extreme push on AI initiatives, the company seems more feature, driven rather than value / problem driven. - There seems to be a downward trend on work, life balance, but this is most likely intentional. The company has internally announced the intention to change the culture so this is most likely intentional. Unfortunately this is causing burnout amount a number of engineers.

Declining Culture

Pros

Strong brand and market leader Doing good for the internet Great community My early years were great. There was a unique culture and expectation that we were doing great things. Lots of scrappy folks who could get stuff done.

Cons

Culture has taken a nose-dive since the new CEO came on board with a lot of solid workers and old timers jumping ship. The company is way behind and stagnant. Over the years, the company took away a lot of unique benefits that made them appealing and never added new benefits. No 401k match or bonus structure. The new CEO lacks EQ and comes across as super stiff. Under her tenure, we moved away from a completely remote first culture to a "hub model" with some of the most expensive cities in the country for talent, which alienated those not in a hub city and raised costs. Leadership likes to talk about how we needed to move away from the old way of doing things, yet I haven't seen this new leadership do anything of merit in the time they've been in. A lot of bloat and bad decisions have made the tech stack hard to manage.

Worst company ever

Pros

Working remote - something they are clearly trying to move away from

Cons

CEO goes rouge and makes decisions without understanding downstream impacts. Didn’t know basics around sales initiatives and hired a consultant to come in and ask what people’s jobs are and if they are useful instead of doing it herself. Could have been a impactful way to get to know people but chose to stay as far from people as possible and hire someone to do it instead. She has no personality and comes off condescending and unapproachable. They are doing silent layoffs. Clear the company has little to no direction. People are leaving left and right and it just seems like there is no communication around how to execute on things. Every department blames eachother. Never seen more people join and leave a company so fast. Get numbers that they roll up to the board wrong all the time. Also zero career growth. Only pro is working remote. Be cautious.
