Pros

Great dynamic with other employees, Great Selling Initiatives, Grateful Company treats employees well, Great H.R. department, Trains employees well, nice breaks, good employee discount, good for people looking for 15 hours or less a week.

Cons

Pay is not that great even if you do great but the store doesn't do as well you don't get a raise, the only opportunity for raise is once a year, prefers older workers especially for promotion, Poor manager choices that make fun of workers and end up with a high overturn rate, Limited Hours but demanding for holidays, managers make bonuses when they don't use all the hours to be given to employees so they don't care about employees, Bad strategies for loss prevention

Pros

Above average wages, constantly changing product and displays so you don't get bored, solid name behind you, people LOVE Hallmark.

Cons

Management says they're all about family and values, but make their retail staff work holidays while head office staff get the time off, leaving the stores with no support if things go wrong.

Pros

It is fun working there with holidays always around the corner the store is always changing. Hallmark always has creative and fun products in the store. This makes selling fun cause you can get excited about new products. If you like to work with your hands it’s fun in every way. You will have regular customer who love your store and always has something nice to be said. Customers are most often voicing their opinion so you can always improve your store to their needs. They have their own site which is like your bible because it has everything to what’s new in the company to how you do everything. It is a very detailed company so there is a way to do everything; there is no need to feel lost.

Cons

Hallmark is a very shady company. The only full time positions are managers and assistant managers. Anything else is part-time. Even in Christmas time when you are doing manager hours they won’t give you any benefits. They really don’t like to hire within the company so if you’re just a regular associate and you plan on being a key holder or higher position, you may not get it. The store always changes it is not an easy process it contains heavy lifting, time consuming, and has to be done properly or your whole fixture will look bad. You have to do all that plus manage employees and customers. Pay isn’t the greatest. If you’re just looking for a fun time then Hallmark is your place to work but not a bill payer. They expect us to give a five star experience to our customers but they don’t do the same for their employees.
