Pros

The CEO and the COO are amazing when showing appreciation to their employees. They will spoil you with beautiful events, food, gifts and they have even given their employees credit to put in their Grubhub account. The social responsibility they took during the pandemic to help out small businesses speaks volumes on who you’re working for. HUGE KUDOS to the owners! Also, most of the employees who work here are VERY intelligent and kind people. They are open to sharing their knowledge to anyone that wants to learn so that everyone can become better.

Cons

I am not sure if the CEO and COO are aware of just how unprofessional and terrible their upper management team really is. It’s really unfortunate because that’s the only con this company has. Ive seen and heard a lot of smart and valuable people leave this company because of how bad upper management is. I didn’t believe them until recently when I experienced this myself. Ultimately this is what lead me to leave Harmonia and sign to another company.

Really appreciate you sharing how great our leadership is and all the things we do for our employees and our communities. Our employees, families, and communities are the most important things to us, and we know this has been a hard year for everyone, so we’re glad we’ve been able to make an impact, however small. One of the biggest challenges with Glassdoor reviews is the one-sided perspective, and yet it wouldn’t be appropriate to use this forum to share the specifics that ultimately led to your departure. However, I do believe that most people who read these reviews understand that there are two sides to every story and won’t accept this post at face value. We are so lucky to have a team of fantastic managers who work hard every day to provide the best service they can to our federal government clients while encouraging and supporting the success and growth of their teams. While our employees are the heart and soul of our company, our mission is and always will be to provide the best resources we can to our clients. Unfortunately, sometimes this does mean making hard decisions, however much we wish we could avoid that. No one likes unhappy endings. I do appreciate that you took the opportunity to share your concerns with HR prior to your departure, and I want to assure you again that we are committed to providing employees and management alike the opportunity to grow, develop, and improve their skills and capabilities.

I'm glad you appreciate our health insurance plans-- we work hard to find plans that work for our employees (and we are proud to offer a $0 premium option!), but I do have to push back on the rest of this as being an unfair and biased review. 81\% of our employees have rated us a "Great Place to Work", so I'm confident in our management capabilities; more importantly, I'm proud of our diversity. We have employees who speak Hindi, Spanish, Russian, Korean, Mandarin, and more, and they each bring valuable skills to our team. Unfortunately, we cannot do much about gossip. If I could, I would; however, we do work hard to make all our employees feel part of the team, and we don't want anyone to ever feel as though they don't belong-- because we truly DO care about our employees. Each and every one.

Pros

Midsize Gov't Contracting Company. Somewhat stable as long as the contract gets renewed or they receive new projects. Friday snacks. Monthly birthday cake. Nuts and drinks. Paycheck arrives on time. Good health insurance.

Cons

1. CEO & COO are related (husband and wife). The COO will shout, scream and use abusive language with his employees (in person or on the phone) whenever the other person did not do things the way he likes. Belittling the other person. 2. Micro-management & inflexible. Officially, 1 work from home day per week. If working from home then be prepared to email in the morning about your plans for that day and at the end of the day send a status update. 3. Open office plans. Buy the best noise cancelling headphones money can buy. Employees conduct group discussions at their desk or join con calls on speakerphones. 3. No dedicated office admin staff - Some mornings are handwash your own cup day. 4. Managers will walk up to your desk, interrupt whatever you are working on because they have a question. And it also creates the noisy workplace condition.

I appreciate that you don't undervalue the importance of nuts and drinks! We do work hard to make sure the big things (insurance and pay!) are there for you, but we also recognize that those little things mean a lot too, and we are always looking for ways to make the day better in those little ways ; however, we will likely never wash your coffee mug for you, so if someone has been doing so, please take a moment to thank them! And while open floor plans can sometimes get noisy, it's worth it for the increased level of collaboration and communication that they provide. Team work and building off each other is extremely important to us, and we expect our managers to interact with their developers regularly. So, yes, they will frequently touch base with you throughout the day-- and we want them to do so! I don't understand your concern with the CEO and COO being married. That seems irrelevant, especially considering the amount of expertise they each separately bring to the table. We actually have quite a few married couples working for Harmonia, which exemplifies our commitment to family and demonstrates that we are indeed an excellent place to work! As for being held accountable on work from home days-- we do hold our employees accountable to performance expectations, but we also give them a lot of latitude to do their jobs around their personal schedule. We offer flex-time and telecommuting, but we do ask you to keep in touch with your managers on those days, and will continue to do so. Employees who are performing well do not mind being held accountable. Have you spoken with your management regarding your other concerns? If not, please do so. You can also reach out directly to hr@harmonia.com. We value our employees and want them to feel they are heard, respected, trusted, and appreciated at all times.
