Pros

Free coffee. Free tea. Cans of soda and bottles of water are a quarter. Onsite gym.

Cons

Where do I start? I am a new hire and I've been subjected to so much abuse in such a short period of time. Someone in my training class spread a rumor about me through our class that spread to the rest of the company. I've become an instant pariah, an object of hate/derision/mockery. At this point I'm considering getting law enforcement involved. In training my classmates were rooting for me to fail the last test. I barely talk to anyone there because of this. I certainly don't eat at the cafeteria because I have overheard someone say that the cafeteria staff would spit in my food. I do other projects on the side but because I have so much debt from undergrad and grad school I have to work as much as I can. So unfortunately, I'll be stuck working with monsters until the end of the year.

Pros

The training team is amazing! The cafeteria was also nice and they would have specialty meal but that stopped once they were under West corporation. I was only with the company 9 months and was promoted within that timeframe. So there is room for advancement to some degree.

Cons

I worked for this company briefly because they were not family-friendly. My son was in the emergency room until 5am one morning and I had to make arrangements for him upon discharge so that I could go to work because Health Advocate does not give sick time but all time off must be approved beforehand. I'm not sure how a company named Health Advocate doesn't give sick time it's like working at McDonalds and not getting a lunchbreak. You are allowed 30 minutes for lunch and given 5 minutes for a break throughout the whole day to go to the bathroom or anything else that you may want to do. As someone who drinks water I may go to the bathroom 3 or 4 times a day and need 5 minutes for each bathroom trip. If you exceed those 5 minutes a manager calls to your desk. There is also a lot of favoritism in the department as well as favoritism.

Good afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to share this experience with us. I am glad to hear you had a great experience with many aspects of Health Advocate. The cafeteria is a huge hit and we are fortunate to have it on site for convenience. I am also happy to hear that your advanced during your time with us, we boast a ~33% internal promotion rate which is fantastic! I am not sure exactly when you worked for us, so I cannot speak directly to your situation with your son. Health Advocate has always had time off for employees to use for various reasons (vacation, illness, emergencies, etc.). We switched to the vacation and sick leave model in the past couple of years but the option was always available. I am sorry to hear about your break time concerns, however we do offer the 30 minute lunch and also paid breaks in the first and second half of our shifts. I would like to learn more about your experience and feedback. If you’d like to share more, please reach me at hmintzer@healthadvocate.com. Thank you HR Business Partner – Howie Mintzer

Pros

Helping our clients resolve medical claims issues; my co-workers

Cons

Unnecessary stress. ie; 3 employees have dropped DEAD SUDDENLY over the past 4 months...Poor upper management.. feels like they have the Napolean syndrome. You will be promoted or moved to another department at your request IF they like you. Management does not know how to delegate work.
