Pros

Colleagues are nice to work with

Cons

Sales lead client to believe that we can work miracles to make bills go away or be drastically reduced. Too many tasks added on to case review to meet monthly metrics. Q&A used to be monthly. Since June 2016 none until 2018 and only for 3-months before West mandatory bi-annual self reviews. Q&A scores based on responding when you say you will update. When you are 4-weeks behind stooped giveng a date, then was cited for error for not updating. If you know that you cannot update for 4-weeks what say you will update in 2-weeks? You cannot set a due date past 2-weeks. Telling the member 2-weeks was bacically a lie. But if you updated in 4-weeks, when you said 2-weeks, you get an error for that too..Many not aware o f how poorly, per metrics on paper, and no merit increase. Folks totally blindsided and many quit. Much needed training updates to keep up with claims processing trends. Q&A includes "compliments" and "complaints". Compliments you can share via an email. While complaints are most times opinions because they did not get what sales promised. Currently my work is being viewed everyday by manager. Not certain why since I exceed metrics monthly. Only caught on when I went back in a case to add a note and saw they changed a due date. I would think they have better more important things to attend to. At one point had in excess of 300 cases. the average should be 80 to 100. Upper management MICRO MANAGES.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us with this constructive feedback about your current role here at HealthAdvocate. I am glad that you’ve had great experiences with your colleagues! Each of you works hard to deliver the best service to our members and clients. We truly have an amazing and dedicated team and our members and clients acknowledge the work you all do on a regular basis. On the other hand, I am sorry to hear that your experiences otherwise seem to be negative. I want you to know that I have escalated your concern to our management team for discussion and review. I understand your frustration with your workload, however, as you’re aware, our commitment to our members and clients is our top priority, this includes delivering competitive results day in and day out. We have stringent deadlines in order to meet the needs of our clients and members. We know it can seem overwhelming at times, but I think you would agree that the work itself is purposeful. Additionally, in order to deliver on our commitments, we don’t allow a 4-week response time to be set for claims cases. In regards to complaints, we have a process in place for our employees to appeal a complaint and have it escalated for review. Our team then makes a decision on whether the complaint is accurate. If you have concerns about a complaint, please bring it to your supervisor’s attention so it can be reviewed. I agree that there is an opportunity for us to provide more training updates for claims – things change very quickly and I understand your concern. I do urge you to present your ideas for training to your supervisor or HR so we can delve a bit deeper – it could end up assisting your teammates as well! Lastly, I see you have also mentioned the lack of merit increase – however every eligible employee was given a merit increase in August 2018. Additionally, we are just now entering our 2019 mid-review period – and additional information regarding merit will be available in the coming months, as usual. I would like to learn more about your experience here – specifically regarding your comment stating that your manager changes your due dates. Since you are a current employee, I always suggest setting up a time to meet with HR to discuss your concerns. Additionally, I can be reached at HMintzer@healthadvocate.com if that is preferable. Thanks again for your feedback, I look forward to discussing this further!

Pros

It's a job and your paid every (2) weeks.

Cons

Pretty much everything. Low pay scale and the work is loaded on! Management will engage in falsehoods when you are hired, giving you a low ball on the work load. Once you start working, the work is piled on. It's expected you work overtime to catch up with unrealistic work load. You'll be doing the work load of of (3) employees. Management also engages in bully tactics, they know best and will dictate and micromanagement to you constantly. The director of service operations has been witnessed to scream and curse out employees. She has a slogan sign in her office, "Save time, assume I'm right". Pretty much says it all! Terrible work/life balance, morale here is one of despondency. There is no value placed on employees or initiative here. There is little training and no continuing improvement. The highlight of your experience here will be orientation. Turnover is through the roof and management doesn't care! Management has no formal education in management science, are unprofessional, and mistake micro-management for continuing education. There is no information sharing to employees, no transparency, no departmental meetings; you're just a peon, no matter what position you're in. Atmosphere is punitive, if an issue arises with a result on a case, the employee is found to always be at fault.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback from your employment here at Health Advocate. I am sorry to hear that your overall experience here was not good. We are constantly striving to improve the environment in which our employees interact and your feedback will help us continue to achieve this going forward. As you know, we have a vast number of clients and millions of members who rely on us on a daily basis. Admittedly, 2018 was our toughest and busiest year yet, and we are projected to continue to grow in 2019. I appreciate your contributions to our success throughout the years, and I want you to know that we have elevated our staffing plans and recruitment strategies to provide the support for our team. By increasing our staffing, we will be able to hold more frequent departmental meetings and improve our results with career trajectory within Health Advocate. In fact, quite a few of our current supervisors and managers have worked their way through the internal path of development. We are addressing employee feedback and ideas as effectively as we can, so much so that we just rolled out an internal development “university” in which all of our employees at every level can continue to learn and grow within their role while expanding outward to roles they are interested in pursuing. This includes valuable courses, eBooks, and videos accessible 24/7. We have even delegated paid learning time for our employees to explore their future with Health Advocate. If you would like to share any additional ideas on how we can improve, I can be reached at Hmintzer@healthadvocate.com Thanks again for your thoughtful review; we wish you the best luck in your future endeavors. Pros

Free coffee and tea, waters and sodas cost a quarter, there’s a cafe in the building and I had some wonderful coworkers.

Cons

Micromanagement at its finest right here. There is a three week training but it does not actually prepare you for the job whatsoever. Once you’re out on the floor, you’re pretty much thrown to the wolves. The resources to help you do your job are scarce. Members often become irate when you are unable to help them, but this generally is not your fault because there is actually no information to truly help you. Often times you’re just repeating back information that people received in their open enrollment guides that they have sitting right in front of them. I don’t see how this company actually helps anyone. It’s just a middle man that really does nothing useful. It generally just makes people angrier from my experience since they are continuously transferred from one person to the next. They’ll hire just about anyone which causes members to get incorrect information very frequently due to lack of knowledge and training. They push and push you to continue to take more calls and throw you into queues that you have no idea how to handle. People aren’t actually being helped here and clients really just are wasting their money on these services. There never is enough adequate time to finish cases thoroughly. Management is negative and it rubs off on their employees. They constantly watch you like a hawk, and it’s a bit creepy as well as middle school-esque in my opinion. I really had high hopes for this place as the trainers had made it seem like a great place to work. It turned out to be a big disappointment and a big waste of my time.
