Pros

"Family" like atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help. They have an awesome buddy system for new hires so we have that person to reach out to and ask a question when needed. Every single person I have met and spoken with and been genuinely happy to meet me and I have been encouraged at every step to reach out. I have 12+ years of working remotely as a coder and I do not feel isolated at HIA.

Cons

The Particle system is a bit cumbersome and repetitive, though I understand the value it adds.

Thank you for your suggestions. Particle is our internal system to keep track of the work our staff complete and report back to our clients. We are constantly improving the workflow and reach out to staff for feedback.

Pros

The benefit package was quite generous. The educational resources were outstanding. Most of the people were very kind and helpful.

Cons

One of the things that attracted me to this company was a post on LinkedIn that said, "HIA has always focused on the quality of the work we do for our clients over the quantity. We know from experience that it pays to get it right the first time." However, although I got 100% across-the-board on my first quality review, I was let go on my 29th day because I wasn't meeting their productivity expectations! I am an experienced coder but there were still a lot of things that were new to me, including software programs and how to determine on a case-by-case basis whether or not Rural Health Clinic guidelines would apply. I was also assigned to code for specialties which were new to me. I made an honest effort to get things right the first time because I believe that accuracy in coding truly matters for patients, payers and the healthcare system in general.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate and value your opinion. While HIA does focus on the quality of work, productivity is an important client requirement. We hold all HIA coders to the same quality and productivity standards. Thank you again for your insight, it helps us make HIA a better company.

During the Covid years we did have some changes in our schedule due to requests from our clients. Since this time our schedule has become very stable with minimal changes.
