Pros

Incredible education program that includes extensive educational modules that can count for CEUs as well as continued live support with any questions that arise while coding. HIA does a great job at making you feel a part of a community and family even when working remotely. When starting staff is paired with a coding buddy to help with on-boarding, helping to feel part of the community, and as a contact for any questions that arise. Great at accommodating personal schedules. EAP program is provided. Staff is all very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Truly wants to support their coders to help them be the best!

Cons

The insurance is fairly expensive.

Pros

When you join HIA you join the HIA family. The emphasis on education so that each coder and reviewer can provide the highest level of expertise in the industry is great! Even with most positions being remote we are all connected and work towards a common goal -- doing the best job possible for our clients.

Cons

Every job has a downside but they are so minimal compared to the benefits of being part of the HIA family.

Pros

What I like about the company is that employees seem to be appreciated for their work and their skills. There is a lot of education and and educational sources that are available. There is a wonderful internal educational site to ask questions and get feedback from designated educators and that is a tremendous asset. Everyone at the reviewer and management level, in particular, seems to be willing to help with questions and figuring out next steps. I feel very supported, but I also feel my independence. I don't feel micromanaged, which I appreciate.

Cons

It's difficult to work remotely and develop and maintain relationships with your coworkers, especially when first starting. The onboarding/training when first hired is very intense and can be overwhelming. A lot of information delivered in a very short span of time can be difficult to retain.

Great ideas! We have created new handouts. We have also created a dedicated onboarding page with Quick Links to policies and procedures and new hire resources. Additional videos have been created for training. We will continue to add to this library. Best of all, new employees are assigned a buddy to help them with any questions during their orientation period.
