Pros

Money is good but not worth the unnecessary stress

Cons

Upper management is lost, they say yes to your face but make sure it doesn’t happen behind the scenes. It’s part of a good ole boy club and you won’t be let it. They slander you (management) and make it impossible to do your job by overwhelming you with more and more reports. Be ready to be micromanaged like never before.

Pros

If you come to work to work - upper management will do everything in their power to move you into a position that you want or that they feel fits you best and that you would likely thrive in. Great pay, great hours (sometimes makes it difficult for a work/life balance), and great benefits. Because branches have to reach out to each other concerning equipment, customers, and more - there are many opportunities to meet new people in other positions and learn more about what career path you'd like to follow. In the short amount of time I have been here - I've already met the CEO twice and the COO once; Upper management genuinely tries to make an appearance and converse with you on a personal level to see what your needs are or what they can do to improve the company/workplace.

Cons

Learning programs, dispatch programs, and other programs used for internal operations could be better organized. Coming onboard can be a little overwhelming because of how disorganized it feels but if you're resourceful and ask the right questions it can be rewarding. Local/traditional branches only have anywhere from 4-12 employees - so you have to be prepared to learn everyone's habits and mannerisms so that you can work alongside each other for at least five days a week for ten to twelve hours at a time. Herc is growing and you have to be patient and want to grow with the company; This means sticking through the rough days where a loyal customer has to go to a competitor because Herc did not have the correct/amount of equipment needed for their job.

Pros

The construction industry is stable.

Cons

Upper management is unresponsive, and will throw you under the bus in an instant to save themselves. They ask what you can do for them, instead of what they can do for you. Very Micromanaged. Little to no recognition for hard work. Very low salary compared to elsewhere in the industry. Horrendous sales comp plan. Huge lack of diversity within the company. No innovation.

Pros

- Still a growing company, with opportunities to progress - Various locations and opportunities to move - Aaron and Larry are absolutely phenomenal leaders who are taking the company in a positive direction - Competitive compensation - Great managers, DSM, DMs,

Cons

- Need to stop tolerating bad employees, it wears down on the good ones! - More recognition for employees from upper management - Let reps use CRM to actually help them instead of leveraging it based on utilization for activity -

Pros

Benefits, tools provided to perform responsibilities, whatever aspirations you have... you will get there if you make sure all the right people know about it as you work toward it. Strong technically savvy team members to grow and learn with.

Cons

Still experiencing internal growing pains when it comes to AR & AP. Sales reps are expected to cover many tasks that in competing companies would be someone else's responsibility. Still experiencing growing pains when it comes to streamlining training in several facets. Upper management persons unknowingly set an example of complacency for subordinates. Herc Rentals shies away from catering to customers with largely seasonal needs, losing contracts with large customers to competitors. As a sales rep, this is discouraging.
